According to today's NY Times:
Shane Spencer was activated from the 15-day disabled list and optioned to Class AAA Columbus, a move that was excpected but still disappointed the outfielder, who is coming back from knee surgery. "It's not my choice but I've got to deal with it," Spencer said before the Clippers' game Monday night.
I feel for the guy, but daily playing time is for the best right now.
It must be hard. He's been so close to winning the starting job so many times. Oh well. At least Knobby's doing well (that's like the understatement of the year!) :D
It's the best move for him...go down there and crush that pitching, work on his game and get some confidence. Wouldn't do him any good sitting in the Yankee dugout waiting for something to happen.

I agree CTfan, Spencer can get himself noticed by playing hard and tearing the cover off the ball in Columbus. As pointed out on another thread the Yankees might not have a place for him to play every day but perhaps he can be traded somewhere where he can play every day. I'd be sad to see him go but sometimes you have to move a player if you don't have any place to use him. I wish Spencer could be a could bench player but it doesn't seem like he thrives in that role.

I would like to see him traded as well if he isn't going to get daily time on the Yankees. I am sure that would make him happiest also.

Good for him; he's playing again. I really don't see why he has reason to be disappointed. He's barely played in almost a year, and he needs the rehab. He should think of it as his spring training, and treat it the same way Cone treated those starts in Norwich when he came back from his aneurysm. It's not permanent by any means.
