One of you myspace gurus must know this:

If someone sends me a message and I read it and don't reply can they tell I've read it?

Yes....They can check their outbox and it will say "read". If you didn't read it, then it would say "sent." And if you replied back, it would say "replied" so yes they can tell you read it and didnt reply back.

If you read it and then delete it, yes they can tell. If you delete it and then read it while its in the trash, yes they can tell. If you just delete it and not read it, it will only say its "sent", but not 'read'..

So basically if you open it, they can tell.

Well, a Catholic high school in my town is under police security today because of a threat on MySpace. It was reported, and the school administraiton and the police department are investigating.

I hope that some of the kids out there realize their high schools may be monitoring MySpace. Maybe it'll put a stop some of the filth that they're putting out there on their profiles.
Our high school has a state trooper on campus. He reads the kid's myspaces.

I know this because my friend's daughter, who had already graduated and was 18 at the time, wrote something on her myspace about a girl who was still in the school. He threatened to arrest her because of her comments. They weren't very nice comments, lets just say.

So, yeah, they do take that stuff seriously.

Supposedly my school had myspace & facebook and such sites blocked, but everyday while I'm working behind the desk, I always see someone browsing myspace for an extended period of time -- on the computers specifically intended for research. It's such crap because there are a lot of times during the day when there isn't one empty research computer and/or a huge line outside the other computer lab, while other "students" (and I use that word loosely) are blatantly bull................ting on myspace. And nobody has the damn balls to kick them off.

I would have asked whoever was in charge to get me a computer since Im paying techonology fees. Like just a few minutes ago, some lady needed a comp to actually do work on and I got up and gave her mine. I can bullsh*t at home. I know most people won't do that but I felt bad. About 2 minutes after I gave her mine, 3 people left the computers and I used one of those.

It could possibly be abuse/spam and the sender's account gets nuked before you can read it.

Correct. A lot of times they catch spammers in the act and delete it before we have to deal with it (thankfully).

Anyway, I'm kind of getting annoyed by myspace lately. I definitely prefer facebook.

I'm not sure how old you are. But my daughter is 14 and whether she thinks so or not, she needs to be careful of what she puts out there. I'm not the only parent that keeps tabs on what his/her children are doing on the internet. Too much potential for real trouble there.

Hey, my son is 15 and the only way he's allowed to have a myspace is if I have the UN & PW. Which he has no problem with. But I honestly dont log on to his site. i do keep tabs on his page. But the thing is he knows I have the ability to log on to his site. But me and my kid are totally cool with each other. But I totally agree with being careful what you put on the net. Its a great thing but you do need to procceed with caution.

Facebook used to be much better until they added all these crazy irrelevant applications. Now they're only narrowly better than MySpace, but that's only until they add music and allow inane customization.

I don't see much custimization coming. One of their biggest draws is that they're NOT MySpace.
