The second week of the NFL playoffs is here, with the divisional playoffs:

#5 St. Louis Rams vs. #2 Atlanta Falcons

The Rams analysis: The offense is very good with Torry Holt and Issac Bruce at WR and the combo of Marshall Faulk and Steven Jackson at RB with Marc Bulger at QB. If the Rams can run the ball to mix up with their lethal passing attack, the Falcons are in trouble. The problem for the Rams is turnovers. The Rams have a horrible TO differential (-24) in the NFL and the Falcons are 11TH in takeaways. The Rams defense needs to keep Falcon QB Michael Vick in the pocket and his face to prevent him from scrambling or throwing the ball to his target, Alge Crumpler. The Rams also shut down the Falcons running attack of Vick, T.J. Duckett, and Warrick Dunn.

The Falcons analysis: Michael Vick is one of the most amazing athletes in the NFL. The Falcons though have a very good running attack, but one of the worst passing teams. Vick needs to step up and use his arm, not just his legs, to beat the Rams. WR Peerless Price and TE Alge Crumpler need to shine. The defense is very good and very opportunistic.

The Verdict: If Michael Vick get loose and if the Falcons D gets in Marc Bulgers face and cause a lot of turnovers, the Falcons will win this contest. If the Rams can keep Vick in the Atlanta sidelines, they might be first 8-8 team to go to a conference championship game.

Falcons 28, Rams 17.

This is another one where I smell an upset and I'm not sure exactly why. I think the Rams are feeling good about themselves right now and can move the ball against anyone. I'm going with:

Rams:34
Falcons:28

with the Falcons having a shot late to win the game but failing.

So I have Jets vs. Colts in the AFC Championship Game and the Rams HOSTING the NFC Championship Game against the Vikings. I'm probably way off, but those are my gut feelings about these games.

The Rams have come to the end of the line.

The Falcons have a lousy passing game because they don't need to pass. Falcons in a game that's close but never in doubt.

I'm going to go w/ the Rams. I'm not sure why, just a feeling.

I think the Rams have a good chance if their defense tackles well, especially in the open field. It's a rare defense that can legitimately pressure Vick while simultaneously forcing him to stay in the pocket--the best chance is to be able to minimize his gains once he's flushed out of the pocket. His elusiveness is as important to the type of player Vick is (not a type of player that I like or approve of as a QB) as his speed.

Even better, like BB55 said, would be for the Rams' offense to win the time of possession battle and minimize the time Vick gets on the field.

Falcons got this one locked up. Depending on which Stlouis Rams team shows up. If its the one that plays like a team with their talent should play, then itll be close. But if its the team we've seen all season. I look forward to seeing McNabb and Vick in the NFC Championship.

I'm taking the Rams, I don't think Vick shows up and the inconsistent offense does not come through, Rams 30-13

The playfake and Curtis (the new Don Beebe) burns ATL secondary for a 57 yard TD.

The Rams have experience and playing in a dome, but if the defense doesn't stop anyone, it will be a tough time for the offense to match point-4-point.

Seriously. This has the makings of that Green Bay / Indianapolis game earlier in the year. And I've got Green Bay.

Falcons lead 14-7, 7:06 1st quarter on a Warrick Dunn TD run.

BroadwayBomber55

The Rams need to convert 3rd downs to keep their drive alive and rest their defense.

So we have the Rams incapable of playing any D. The Falcons doing whatever they want and its 14-7.

Any defense would be appreciated.

The Rams really miss Lovie Smith as their defensive coordinator. His philosophy: Everyone to the ball.

Warrick Dunn scores again. His 2nd TD puts the Falcons in front, 21-7 9:58 left 2nd quarter.

Maybe one sided high-scoring affair if the Rams offense doesn't respond and their defense keeps playing poorly.

The Rams offense showed up, but they can't do it alone. The Rams defense played atrocius throughout the game.

Went to the game last night. It was amazing. Can't say that I have witnessed anything like that in Atlanta before. I personally saw three seperate fights with Falcons and Rams fans. That just isn't like Atlanta.

I am glad everyone was able to see what Falcons fans have known all year. They are legit. The defense is for real and heck they even had to TD Passes and one was to Peerless "not worth the" Price. I think 300 plus rushing yards is ridiculous.

Anyway, I am pulling for the Vikings seeing as though I want to go the game in the Dome next Sunday.
