I figured this deserved its own thread because this is such a huge blow to the Jets. Hopefully Quincy can step it up.

I saw it on espnews.

CBS Sportsline says it's a strained right (throwing) rotator cuff.

:( Watching him do better than half-decently is going to tear me up inside. Heck, even just thinking of it right now is getting to me. Got a reason not to be mad at having to watch the Jets for the next few weeks. Best of luck, Q.

If Drew Henson pans out, you'll forget all about "Q". After that loss to the Bengals, don't be surprised if Drew starts in week 10.

Once there was a Jet, and his name was Chad,
soon turned out, he had an arm of glass

I know! I'm so excited! The biggest disappointment yesterday besides everything tied to the loss was Drew not getting some garbage time snaps. In not-so-veiled terms, Jerry started calling for a Henson start after the game yesterday. That was one thing about the whole debacle that made me happy.

Parcells has been stubborn about this though. At absolute worst, Drew could come in after Thanksgiving, which is the date Tuna tagged early on as THE day for judging where the team is at and which direction they want to take it. I really doubt they'd throw him into the fire against either the Eagles or Ravens or even the Bears, having only 2 days to prepare for that Thursday game. But who knows?

Anyway, I think the fact that I even need someone to make me forget about QUINCY CARTER is really really sad. Dumb Vinny.

Dumb move on Pennington's behald not to slide on the play. He fumbled the ball AND got hurt.

Chad's no Macho Man. Don't tell JWF, but Brady once played through a seperated shoulder, won Super Bowl MVP along the way. ;)

This is such a ................ing kick in the balls. Quincy better step it the hell up, or this season is going down the tubes.

At least QC can throw the deep ball. Chad has not made a pass like that all season. Too bad Hackett will do everything he can to make sure QC doesn't lose the game as much as let him try and win it.

That's not where he got hurt.

As long as Carter doesn't turn the ball over against the Ravens, I like our chances.

Of course, the chances of him NOT turning the ball over against Ray Ray and the boys is slim...

I think this team will bounce back and beat Baltimore, as good as their D is their offense is almost as bad. Maybe QC hooks up with Moss or Carter on some deep passes, he's got the arm for it. We can beat these guys.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quincy Carter better step up or we're screwed.

First it was the broken wrist last year (non-throwing hand) and now a strained rotator cuff. Dammit.

The Jets have a poor record without Chad Pennington in the starting lineup.

Quincy Carter better step up. Curtis Martin may carry the load if Carter struggles.

Pennington was hurt in the first quarter of a 22-17 loss to Buffalo on Sunday when he scrambled up the middle for a 12-yard gain. Rather than sliding, he elected to dive ahead and was hit from the right side by linebacker London Fletcher, who forced a fumble.

Pennington continued playing, but his arm started to stiffen and he left the game in the fourth quarter after talking with coach Herman Edwards.

Once again I'm proven wrong. I thought it was on that last sack before he came out.

knowing Hackett....it will be run Curtis 40 times (no matter if he gains yards or not).....and no passes over 10 yards for Carter

Yeah, if we think he's been conservative before, wait until we see what he is like on Sunday. Fortunately, against this Ravens team, it could still work. Our defense needs to step it up bigtime and stop Jamal Lewis.

Was listening to the radio and Chad was talking with Herman Edwards about the condition of his throwing arm. He came back to the game but was ineffective so they decided to take him out.

They'll be OK ... I don't think that Q is that much off a drop off from Chad.

Hopefully Hackett grows a shread of common sense and lets Quincy do what he does best.

Crap. Thank God we got Quincy this offseason. I'm hopeful he can get the job done but both our defense and Curtis have to step it up big time. And Quincy cannot make stupid plays and must keep his turnovers to a minimum.

Dammit.

He only said he watched tape of how the injury happened though.

If he actually examined him, then okay, but don't make judgements on that unless you've performed a thorough examination. I know he's a doctor, but yeah.

JWF....Hackett is gonna kill this season for us...just like he in past years anytime Vinny played

Hackett trusts Chad....and lets him throw downfield at times (although not nearly enough....even with Chad in there we play too conservative)

dont you remember how much he scaled back the offense with Vinny in there?? I still have nightmares of the first few games of last season....where basically it was give the ball to Curtis on 1st and 2nd down...throw a 5 yard pass to Sowell on 3rd....punt....that was basically every possession

you really think Hackett is gonna let Quincy use his strengths...which is running and throwing the ball downfield?? I see Quincy more as a "vertical offense" type QB....not a "west coast" type QB....Chad definetly fits Hackett's offense....Quincy doesnt

good coaches adapt to the players they have.....Quincy needs to be able to use his arm strength and throw downfield....as well as improvide and run the ball.....if Hackett does what he did with Vinny....and get all conservative....this will also limit Martin's effectiveness cuz teams will start putting 8 in the box and stacking the line....knowing it will be "run...run....short pass...run...run"

personally....I have no confidence in Hackett adjusting to Quincy's style....history dictates it
