Please post your ideas, comments on how to handle things as the moderators of your fan community.

I'll start:

- We need to respect everybody's opinion, that is why (for now) I want to be fairly liberal with our content screaning policies. The one thing I will NOT tolerate is people making PERSONAL attacks on someone else. Arguing BASEBALL is good, if it oversteps those bounds, either close the topic, or edit the objectionable post ASAP.

- As I said, arguing is good, but only to a point. I'd rather call it "debate". If a "debate" gets out of hand, use your best judgment as far as how to handle it.

- When I move a topic, I have been trying to leave a closed version in the original forum, with a link to the new URL, so that it doesn't take the user 10 minutes to find a post they were active in. You don't have to do this, but please do if you have the time. Basically, after you've meved it, you have to go back into the topic and re-open it, make a reply with the link to the new location, and then re-close it. You don't have to do this, it is just a "convenience" issue.

- If a topic is in the wrong forum, but is extremely active, I wouldn't move it, because chances are it is already in the right place.

- On the converse, if there is a post that hasn't gotten ANY replies, make sure that it is in the right place. I've already seen that happen. I moved a post that had been idle for 3 days, into a different forum, and it had over 10 replies by that night.

This messageboard was created FOR THE FANS, so please do everything in your ability to make this a pleasant place for them. If someone has something to say in regards to how a situation was handled, please listen to them, and feel free to bring it up here, and we can review it and find the best way to handle something.

I've found it hard, myself, to not let the power go to my head, and be open to EVERYONE. I've tried my damndest to be fair, and I think I have been for the most part. Basically, don't do anything just "because" you can. I made you all moderators because I trust you. If I didn't, you wouldn't be a moderator, and I also trust you to do THE RIGHT THING.

Feel free to add on to this topic as you see fit. I'm sure I'll think of other things to say, too.

That's all for now.

Exactly!
Luckily, I haven't had a lot of problems, so I have only closed ones that have been idle for a week or so, just to feel important. http://www.Bronx-Bombers.com/ubb/smile.gif

I feel its also very important to respect the opinions of everybody, even if you don't agree. In the "other" website it was common for people saying,
"That is the stupidest idea! Are you an idiot?"
Not to me,of course, but in general.

Thanx Jim for trusting me! I've never been trusted too much! http://www.Bronx-Bombers.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

That's what I do too, if a topic has been idle, I lock it up, let people read it one more time, then within a couple of days delete it.. cuz no-one's using it, and it's taking up space, but that's about all I do.. Im not like a dictator about it http://www.Bronx-Bombers.com/ubb/smile.gif

Peace, Luv and I hate my highschool
