Mike Yastrzemski, who played in more games than any Florida State baseball player, died this week.
The only son of Boston Red Sox great and Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski died on Wednesday a few days after undergoing hip surgery, according to the Friday afternoon edition of The Eagle-Tribune in Andover, Mass. The younger Yastrzemski, 44, lived in Holyoke near Springfield, Mass.

Thats totally depressing. I send my condolences to Yaz and his family
BTW, is it common for such a young man to undergo hip surgery, and suffer major complications from it, such as death?

Generally a pulmonary embolism...not uncommon with femur fractures...

Not uncommon at all. I'm 37 and doctors want to do one on me. I have Osteoarthritis in my right hip.
