View Full Version : Are you in danger of losing access to the game threads?

If you attack other users, bash any players (including calling them names such as "Payrod" or "Fairytek"), or make any generally inappropriate comments you will have your access to the game threads revoked. Maybe temporarily, maybe permanently. Do yourself a favor and don't try to find out what it will take to end up with a permanent game thread ban.

I realize that the game threads are very much "in the heat of the moment", and that things are said that might not normally be said due to the emotion at that point in time. And many times the person who says something that crosses the line is a valuable contributor to the forum in many ways, so that's why we won't be handing out full suspensions (though we won't hesitate to do so if we need to). But we are going to start removing access to the game thread forum for users who frequently cross the lines in the game threads.

Consider this fair warning. Things will change in the Game Threads.

hey Jim,

I can't speak for everyone, but I happen to really find some of the nicknames boston and new york fans give their own players (and opposing players) pretty funny on occasion. You've got "Fruitbat" for Mo, "Shemp (http://www.stoogeworld.com/_Biographies/shempport.jpg)" Matsui, and so on. I've always found some of these really funny, kinda like an inside lingo, in some cases. you guys have some good ones too, although "fairytek" is kinda weak imho.

I just think there's a big difference between nicknames that are used to be funny and ones that are just used to be degrading/immature. I don't want to see the "Jeter sucks A Rod" tshirt brigade around here any more than you do (seriously, it's wikked retahded), but I also wouldn't want to get banned the next time I say something like "Who is this pitcher and what did they do to Tanyon Sturtze? I can't believe we're getting shut down by a guy whose name sounds like a french delicacy."

cheers,
D

I didn't say all nicknames were not allowed, just those that are used to bash a player. Vagitek, Fairytek, etc.

I believe those names, Fruitbat definitely, are from Sons of Sam Horn.com, a Red Sox fan board.

Jim,
What about comments like: "Hey, A-Rod, you SUCK!", or "They know Jeter couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat"...?
