Everybody ready for the Draft???

Man, there's just SOMETHING about Fantasy Football. Every Sunday is like the Super Bowl. I just hate going against Brett. I just hate being in a grudge match against a great friend, with a lot of beer and Bragging Rights on the line, and it comes down to a Monday night game. And I have Moss and he has Brett!!!

I end up rooting for all these dumbass scenarios... "Hey, maybe The Pack will return six punts for TDs!!! Then, Moss can score on a 95 yard reverse....Green Bay will win 42-7 and Brett only has to throw one pass!!!"

Fantasy Football!!! Broken Bones, Blood, Brats, Beer, and Barberie's Bouncing Boobies!!! It's don't get much better than that, Folks!!! :gulp:

When will we know our draft positions?

Like 5 minutes before the draft. I HATE it, but that's the way Yahoo does it...I want to plan out in advance, but its not possible...

I just checked the site and its now saying 30 mins prior...and I see we have 14 teams! Damn...should be a great season...hope everyone makes the draft and is an active owner...

30 minutes, better than I thought. And yes, I got the 14 teams. I'm kinda dissapointed Kurt never got back to me and Phill didn't respond to my PM's in time, but I did the best I could. With 14 teams, it should be a great season, and I'm praying everyone is an active owner.

Well it's over....

How does everyone think they did? I wasn't too happy originally, but I'm feeling a little better about my team now.

I kinda really, really like my team, on paper anyway.

I think my team is really balanced and good, with the exception of my RBs...

I love my Defense, WRs (TO and Price), QB, and TE. Edinger as my PK aint bad either.

I feel pretty good about my team. :gulp: Based strictly on last year's numbers, they may appear to be middle-of-the-road but that's pretty deceiving.

Thomas Jones I felt was a steal. He only started getting serious playing time the last quarter of the season last year and will now be the starter in Chicago. He's had a very good pre-season.
Charles Rogers missed most of the season with a broken collarbone. Detroit has taken huge strides with their O. He certainly has the talent, and if he remains healthy, could have a huge impact year.
Dallas Clark was another one injured last year but could have a very solid year at TE.
And, Suggs should be named starting RB for the Browns. Fantasy publications have been really touting the guy.
If McLimbaugh gets off to another horrible start, I have Joey Harrington on the bench who will be tossing TDs to Rogers.
Steve Smith is an upper echelon receiver. Hey, when you catch eight balls in a preseason game.....
AND, how did I EVER manage to get Shaun Alexander with the ELEVENTH pick??? :badass:

My defense is, well, pretty darn good! :) :smokin:

TO was a HUGE stretch in the first round, especially with Moss still on the board...

It's only 'cause TO is now in Philthadelphia. ;)

Yeah, Moss is the only receiver I would have used a first round pick on. Man, he gets triple teamed and still kicks butt and NOW that the NFL is supposedly going to really enforce defensiving bumping & holding, he has the potential to have a Bonds-type year in the NFL. :)

George, you have a very good team. Your predictions about Jones, Suggs, and Rogers will most likely be true. And as for Alexander at pick #11, I cannot beleive he fell that far. I ranked, along with every other legit fantasy source, SA as a top 5 guy. How he fell to 11th is beyond me, but it is a STEAL for you, you lucky bastard. Didn't you take him like 4th overall last year?

There was WAY too many steals in this draft by teams other than me for my liking. But hey, **** happens. Now let's get the trash talking started.

Are you guys ready to have your asses handed to you by the defending champs? Lumberjacks are ready to roll, boasting one of the leagues best defense for the second year in a row. You bitches are goin' DOWN. :gulp: :gulp: :smokin: :badass:

VERY clever!!!! However, I am sure the Mods here will see right thru your shameless bravado.
Your conduct, young man, is DISGRACEFUL!!

Here Jason was only trying to help us enjoy the Baseball offseason with a Fantasy Football League. Everybody seemed to really look forward to having something else to concentrate on in the cold dark days of the Winter. But NOOOOOOOOO, YOU have to just try to tear EVERYTHING apart with your proud talk and braggadocio.

Have you NO shame, young lad??? The world is seemingly spinning wildly out of control and unfortunately, a lot of the blame rests on YOUR shoulders, you Ne'er-Do-Well. You ragamuffin!!

I think I echo the entire concern of the NYYFANS FFL Community when I say that I hope you learn the very valuable lessons that Sports teaches us. Your unfortunate actions so far however cause me grave concern.

Sportsmanship, my young militant friend, is a virtue. I only hope that my words here were not too late to save you from a life that is sure to cause heartache to those that dearly love you.

Perhaps getting your worthless ass thrashed by the Fumbling Drunkards will knock some sense into you. Punk!

As for the team neglect, I posted this on the league page, and I'll post it here as well:

There are still two teams in this league who have not fixed their defensive players that Yahoo drafted for them during the draft. As a result, most of your D players are guys that are NA, or not starting, and will not gain any points for you.

The season is two days away, and this is considered team neglect. You all promised to be active owners before signing up, so please don't break that promise and ruin the league for everyone, because that's what it will come down to. If you neglect your team, you create matchups where teams get unfair easy wins. The standings get screwed up, and everything goes to hell. So PLEASE, don't start the bull**** I had to deal with last year all over again. Fix your lineups, and lets get this **** goin'.

Good post, Jason. Before I go look and find out exactly who the guilty parties are, let me say this:

WHY would you take the time to join a League but have NO interest in remaining competitive? Why??? Jackasses!

Hey, look at my miserable ass team in the Baseball League here!!! I still want to win. My Linguists are playing Phil this week. We both Suck!!! My teams has the LOWEST point total in entire League! THAT should tell you how much I suck!!!
AND, Phil lives in San Francisco!!! THAT should tell you how much he sucks!!!

WHY join a Fantasy League if you have no intentions on remaining competitive? That''s just REALLY, SERIOUS bullcrap.

Hey, guys. Glad to see this thing is going well.

I should start off by saying that I have almost no prior knowledge of the NFL - I would probably struggle to name ten active players - but I am interested in learning. I don't want to intrude, but if you do end up with inactive franchises or an owner looking for a co-GM to help out, I'm prepared to have a go. (I'm finally getting broadband back, so hopefully I can be of use there.)

Of course, you may have prospective owners queuing up around the block; I don't know. And I completely understand if you want someone who, well, actually knows football well (hey, at least I wouldn't be a threat to the $100!). But I thought I'd mention the offer. I'm prepared to fork out some dough towards George's prize fund or the site or - well, whatever. My NFL education begins this year, rugger be damned.

Best of luck for the new season, anyway.

Be seeing you,

Saxmania

Sax,

I think I speak for everyone when I say we'd love to have you. It's probably not going to work out this year, incase someone drops out randomly. However, I'm sure you could hop in as a co-gm with me or someone else. I know how much work you do in the baseball league, and you'd be an awesome addition to the league. So hopefully this year you can watch some games, check out some numbers, work with one of us, and come in a blow us away when you can grab a team next year.

Thanks for the interest. PM if interested in co-GMing, or if you have any other questions...

Jason
