A's schedule remains tough as series begins in the Bronx

You have heard this before, but the A's open a series against a first-place team tonight.
The three-game set against the Yankees in New York will be the 10th in the last 21 series in which the A's opponent has been in first place, and that trend will continue. When the A's arrived in Texas on Thursday, the Rangers were on top of the AL West. After facing the Yankees, who lead the AL East, the A's will play the Twins in Minneapolis. Guess which place they occupy?

"Playing against the Yankees is like playing against the Lakers,'' third baseman Eric Chavez said. "Everybody can identify with the Yankees. You always set your standards by the way you play against them.''
