Anyone else plan on watching the Tyson Fight? After all the crap the guy has done, I still root for him, and hope he does well enroute to his comeback.

There was an interesting piece on him on ESPN last night
he is 38-0 in non title fights with 21 First Round KO's but he is 12-4 in title bouts.
Thats telling you the type of competition he has had

I will watch it if I can find a bar that shows it or my friend decides to get it.

The ESPN piece on him last night was interesting. As dull as the boxing world is today, Tyson is really just what it needs.

As a boxing fan I am appalled by how much they are charging people to watch a washed up Tyson fight a never was.
Save your bread for Hopkins/De La Hoya.

Hopkins is going to destroy De La Hoya. I don't even think that will be a great fight because it will be so one-sided.

I wouldn't doubt that. It just annoys me that they'll charge only 5 bucks more for that fight than Tyson vs. Williams.

Agreed. Do you know if there are any good undercards for the Tyson fight? I'm hoping to find this at a bar because Tyson still draws interest from me.

I wanna see it, I just don't want to shell out the cash:o

I look forward to it. Sure its a bit much for a boxing match that will only last a few rounds, but when you split it around with 5 friends, its not that bad at all.

Is there anyone here that has the fight that can give play-by-play of what's going on?

Tyson just got his backside kicked. By a guy who isn't even British champion. Wow. He was a shadow of his former self.

Mike Tyson needs to retire. He's already an undisputed World Heavyweight Champion with a controversial career and under bankruptcy.
I like it when Woody Paige from Around the Horn said that "Mike Tyson fighting in Hong Kong is a great idea just like the Thrilla in Manila" and Jay Mariotti sez, "Don't you dare compare Mike Tyson to Muhammad Ali!"
Please if the 1970s Muhammad Ali faced Mike Tyson in his prime before the rape trial, Ali and Tyson will be in a slugfest with Ali winning via KO.

You think boxing needs Mike Tyson? They need the old Mike Tyson instead of this one.
Tyson just wanted the payday.

I agree. Iron Mike needs more money to get out of financial debt. $27 million in debt including $13 million he owes to the Internal Revenue Service.
I mean what does Mike Tyson spend his boxing earnings on?! Bengal Tigers?!

I watched the fight so I'm going to give my analysis. In the first round Tyson was looking great. He was throwing huge body punches and connecting and almost knocked the guy out. Towards the end of the round it looked like Tyson through out his elbow but the announcers said he twisted his knee. In the 2nd round it showed. It was a pretty even round and I thought Tyson won it but it was close. The third round the other guy lost 2 points with cheap shots and Tyson was looking allright. The end of the 4th round it all went downhill for Tyson. He got hit with a hard punch and was wobbly right away. He then got hit with about 6 more punches before going down. During those 6 punches Tyson threw one more haymaker (maybe the last punch he will ever throw) which missed. He finally went down and it was obvious he wouldn't get up. The sad thing is that if Tyson had just taken a knee after the first punch he got hit with, he could have come back. But Tyson is too much of a warrior for that and stayed up. I was definately rooting for him...
All that being said, it really was a great, great fight. Both guys were going for the kill-so to speak-and both showed a lot of heart.

Tyson will keep fighting because he doesn't know anything else and that's the only way he can earn any money. He'll keep fighting until his brain becomes so messed up that he can't anymore. He had good people behind him years ago that could have guided him through a great career, but he screwed them over and wound up screwing up his own career and life.

Those good people had him signed to an open ended contract that paid them the first 96 cents on every dollar he earned.

This is the reason he lost the fight and there is no doubt about it. Anybody that watched the fight had to be impressed with Tyson up to the injury. There's no doubt in my mind that if Tyson had not suffered this injury, he would have knocked the guy out in the 2nd round. It's really too bad and he deserves another shot. I feel bad for Mike.:(

I think this is true too. I read an article today where the other guy was talking all this smack saying how he will give Tyson a rematch except this time he will knock Tyson out faster. He also said after he beats Tyson again that he will go on to beat Vitally Klitchko. What a clown. I hope Iron Mike gets healthy and then destorys this guy.

Seriously. The only thing I give the guy credit for is not getting knocked out in the first round-because he was close. Other than that, I can't believe it took him so long to knock a guy out with a torn ligament in his knee. Not to mention, in the 3rd round he gave Mike two cheap shots and had points taken away. I really hate how people just look and see that Mike lost the fight and say he is done. I mean, he might be because of this injury but it is not because he sucked in this fight. He was VERY impressive before the injury and truly looked like a guy that could do some damage in that weak heavyweight division.

Although Mike is one freaky individual who would be the first to admit he has "some serious demons," he is a tough mother for going 2 or 3 rounds with a bum knee. I tore a ligament in my knee, and everytime I walked on it for the next 2 weeks, I SAW STARS, it was painful. This dude went 3 rounds with a pro boxer.

Tearing a ligament in your knee in the first round of the fight (and fighting on with it) is a pretty damn good excuse.

"Under normal circumstances the pain and the locking that occurs with this injury would make it impossible for the athlete to continue and he would have to be taken out of the game or the boxing match on a stretcher or with assistance," Emerson (who is the doctor that performed the surgery) said in a statement released by the Tyson camp. "I'm shocked that Mike was able to box for three more rounds after the injury occurred and that he was able to walk away from the ring."
Finkel said the injury prevented Tyson from putting full power behind his right hook. "I was screaming for him to throw it and he wouldn't," Finkel said. "It's obvious now why he didn't throw it, because he couldn't."
