View Full Version : Nomar to the Marlins???

According to some reports, the Marlins are thinking about a Nomar for Alex Gonzalez trade. Although I think the Sox SHOULD trade Nomar, I dont think it should be for anything less than a front-line pitcher. Now if they were to package Nomar and Lowe for Gonzalez and one of the SP's that Florida has, maybe I would do it...
Thoughts?

Nomar ISNT going anywhere unless its for a player(s) taht UPGRADE the team more than anything. Nomar is a good player, and he isnt worth trading just to fill a "void" that may or may not have appeared in the past week and a half. Give it more time.

You don't even have to worry about that. Cabrera is very young, very cheap, and is already an All Star. There's no way in hell the Marlins would trade him.

Uh, the Marlins will not trade anything of great value for a rent-a-player - certainly they won't trade their cleanup/#3 hitter for the next 15 years.

I agree, Cabrera is untouchable. They have a nice young foundation there with Beckett, Willis, Cabrera and I don't think they will break it up.

Nomar's trade value cant be too high. I mean he did hit well over the weeknd, but dont forget his was sulking in the dugout on Thursday.
Lowe doesn't have trade value. Hes been nothing short of bad this season.
I dont see the Sox getting much for the combo of Nomar and Lowe.
I still think Nomar has many great seasons left in him.. And this is coming from a Yankee fan! I respect Nomar abilities as a SS and I wouldnt mind seeing during the off-season the Yanks going to Nomar and asking him how he feels like playing 2nd?
Lowe trade value is down, but having a off year you cant kill him. A change of scenary might do him wonders! and if any team is out there looking for a RHP who is a sinker ball pitcher and can give ya innings, he's your man. I mean he is a bonfide 4th starter, just going thru a bad year.

but truth be told.. just seeing Marlins-Nomar-Redsox-Trade worries me a bit.. why? Cabrera.. keep that young man away from the sox! No one is stupid enough to trade a young, cheap all-star for an over thirty, declining all-star with an expiring deal.
The Sox shouldn't get much of anything for the overpaid underperforming bad attitude combination of Nomar and Lowe.

probably not gonna happen cause the Marlins have nothing to offer the Sux and they cant afford Nomar anyway.
"I'd like to comment on that," owner Jeffery Loria said of the possibility. "I'll use two words: Not happening."
Both the Miami Herald and the Palm Beach Post reported that there's no truth to the rumors.
