I don't about you guys but I think the Rangers are pathetic. Here they have one of the highest payrolls in the NHL and suck. They thought bringing Messier would save them. I guess not. I bet Messier wishes he was back with Canucks since they are going to the playoffs and he isn't. So my advice to Glen Sather is dump that whole team and start over.

Pathetic is the fact that they didn't make any trades before the trade deadline expired. There was nothing they could have gotten to improve the team for the future? Other teams were interested in Adams Graves and Rich Pilon, yet they are still Rangers. I like both players but perhaps their leaving could have opened the door to a brighter future for this mess of a team. I sure hope that there are some plans in place to make some moves during the off-season.

I'm with you Deborah. NO trades??? What do they think they've got the cup sewn up or something? This team is horrible! I don't think there's anyone there I wouldn't be willing to part with, with the possible exception of Brian Leetch. But maybe that's the problem, nobody really wanted these guys. I know I don't want them!!

If you can not see the RANGERS have no chance of making the Playoffs. They are nt focusing on making the playoffs. They tried to make a trade but the couldnt!!!!!!!! Teams wanted Graves, RIchter, and Fleury, The only one they can trade is Graves because now Richter is out for season. You people can see that the rangers are REBUILDING with new people. So dont expect a championship run.

I don't expect a championship run, and I know they're not going to make the playoffs, but good grief, they've been "rebuilding" for 5 or 6 years now. Forgive me if I'm a bit weary of seeing nothing ever happen.

They Hevent Been Rebuilding for 5- 6 years!!! Didnt they winn the championship 6 years ago... or more... THEY HAVENY EVEN TRYED REBUILDING!!! They keep on brining Veteran players along. It takes time. They are finally playing the younger players.
FIRST off ORANGEMOM is right , it seems like they have been rebuilding for the last 5 year's, and yes over the last 2 years they have been pathetic. GETTING FLEURY was a no no in my eye's, sorry but I was never his biggest fan. I love RICHTER, he's my favorite on that team, but do not expect him back for next year, and if he does he will back up. FIRST off we need a real coach, and I have not been impressed w/ the selections we have gotten since KEENAN left. I tell you what I would love to see MILBURY leave THE ISLES and come over to our side and coach, he's toughand good w/ young players being ready to mature, those were his day's w/ BOSTON, unfortunately everytime the other NEW YORK team gets a bunch of good young stud's they are playing for somebody else.

Let's see, the Rangers won the Stanley Cup in 1994, which is, the way I was taught to do math, 7 years ago. They let Messier go at the end of the 1996-97 season, saying that they weren't going to keep paying for the Stanley Cup, and they wanted to rebuild. So my estimate that they have been rebuilding for 5 or 6 years was a bit off, they have only been rebuilding for 4 years, and I have seen them continue to get worse instead of better. Yes, I am frustrated! Yes, I want to see some positive moves by this team. Some of the kids they brought up from Hartford the last couple games look promising, but it looks to me like the Rangers are still a very long way away from being real contenders.

They HAVENT been rebuilding!!! They were trying to get big money veterans and trying to make playoffs all these years... Rebuilding is when you get new young guyz and start from scratch... Since this is NY... No One here wants a team to rebuild...
THEY said the word's not us.

That is such a crock!! Perhaps we're looking at it from different angles. I never said I wanted the Rangers to trade away their future, but it sure would have been nice to see them unload some of the overaged dead weight on this team before the trading deadline. You know, when other teams are desperate for someone to help them with their playoff runs. Perhaps they did try, and the asking price was to high, or perhaps they were looking to pick up the wrong kinds of players once again. I don't want any more players ready for social security. I would have liked to see them make some moves though, BEFORE the off season, to show that they were looking to finish this season on a positive note and have something to build on for next season. I'd like to see them win the Stanley Cup again in my lifetime, and it doesn't look like it's going to happen given the direction their "rebuilding" program (as Mafia said, their words, not mine) has been going. Obviously your definition of rebuilding and theirs are two different things, but they SAID they were gonna rebuild, and they have done nothing but get worse. The team they have now is NOT gonna win any cups, nor is it gonna happen with just the players they have in Hartford. Moves need to be made and now would have been a perfect time to start, but once again, they did NOTHING to improve for the future. And I find that extremely frustrating.
You want MILBURY? You can have him! It really is pathetic-I don't know who is worse-the Islanders or Rangers-At least the Islanders can blame their youth, inexperience and relatively low payroll-what's the Rangers excuse? Maybe the Rangers can beat the Devils tonite for the forst time since 97! (then again, maybe not!) My son is such a hockey junkie that I'm sure we will watch the entire post-season, but it would be nice to care for a change!

Thats exactly what I Meant. They are not trying to improve the future but are trying to make team better now by getting veterans which is actually hurting the team. I Meant by NY not want their team to rebuild is that ppl in NY dont want to see their team Losing and having no good team because NY is a big city and popular city.
People in NY want to see big name money players play for their team. They are only getting veterans which is not helping them..

Looks like we're saying the same thing, but we were using different language sort of. I am not from the City, so perhaps I feel differently, but I think the people in New York would tolerate a team that didn't have a lot of big names as long as they see progress. As long as the team looks like it has a future, which as it is right now, the future looks pretty bleak.
