Self Introduction

Hello, all. I've been watching yankee forums since last summer, though have never been an active participant. I had misgivings about the old Yankee Forum and also the new one (really the old one) taken over by mlb. I just discovered this one and really like what I have seen so far. I am a really long time yankee fan, dating back to the mid 30's. Forgive me if I don't share what seems to be a universal yankee fan hatred of the Mets, but I grew up supporting the NY Giants, with whom Yankee fans shared a hatred of the Brooklyn Dodgers, the true enemy.

Hi Flyboy! Wow - I can't imagine how much baseball you must have seen - please share your memories with us any time. My dad grew up as a NY Giants fan (in the 40's and 50's) but became a Mets fan, he just couldn't transfer over to the Yankees.

Hey flyboy, welcome aboard!

I've got a great story about vintage NY baseball...

My grandmother has a best friend who she's known for years. I had never met her, though I knew almost everything about her, and her me, through conversations with my grandmother. One day a few years ago we went to this lady's house to visit. I, as usual, donned my Yankees cap. She said to me "I'm glad to finally meet you, but I'm going to have to ask you to leave". And she was dead serious! At first I didn't get it, but realized by her evil, glaring look at my hat, that she for some reason DESPISED the Yankees.

It turns out her father was an avid Brooklyn Dodgers fan, and had raised her to hate the Yankees. She didn't even particularly like baseball, she just had an ingrained hatred of the Yankees! I took of the hat, so she let me stay ;).
