Okay, here's the deal. I've put up the new version of the old chat room that we used to use. This one is Java based, so as long as your browser supports Java, you should be able to use it. There are no downloads or plugins required. This should work on Mac; if not, let me know.
This room can also be accessed via IRC. I don't know the server information yet, the only way to get it as of now is to go to the chat page with a browser that doesn't support Java. More information to come...
As far as getting a REAL chat room, I've narrowed down the choices, and it looks like we won't be able to get away with doing anything major for under $60/mo. My server costs to run this entire site are only $40/mo, so I can't justify spending $60 on just the chat room; unless the ad clicking goes to an all time, consistant high, or we get about 20,000 more daily pageviews. Neither one are feasible, I'm afraid. Until a decision is made, I'll be looking for an even better solution.
I just wish more people used the dang thing...
