I know it's too late to do anything, but am I crazy for not benching Lilly this week, when he's going against that Yankee lineup?!?

If he pitches well, you're a bold and shrewd manager for starting a talented young pitcher who is ready to go lights out against his old team.

If he gets hammered, you're a crazy and shortsighted manager for starting a fourth-tier pitcher against the most powerful lineup in baseball.

You know, it's not a lot different than real baseball. ;)

Hey, Zach Day pitched a three hit complete game shutout while comfortably relaxing on the Cunning Linguists' Bench.

I picked the wrong day to stop popping Qualludes......

I'm starting Lilly tonight in my other league. I know how you feel. Good luck, I hope it doesn't backfire on both of us!

I got Lilly tonight too, and am thinking of benching him. I lead enough in most pitching stats where I don't need him, and am not ahead enough in WHIP to risk it...

Problem is my opponent has me in wins and Lilly is the last starting pitcher I have going this week. (we go by categories, not points) I have to play for the tie. But I can't root against the Yanks, that would just be wrong.

We go by categories, too. It stands as:

Team W SV K ERA WHIP
MY TEAM: 3 2 21 3.72 1.24
OPPONENT: 1 1 21 5.05 1.46

I have Lilly and Tomo Ohka tonight, nobody Saturday and Matt Morris on Sunday. (Mon-Sun league)

He has John Burkett and Glendon Rusch tonight, nobody tomorrow and Randy Wolf on Sunday.

I figure if Ohka or Morris get the win, he'd need all 3 of his starters to get the tie in W's, but the only problem becomes K's. That's why I'm up in the air...I might risk it and put Lilly in, just for the K's...

Don't worry, no matter how badly Lilly might blow up, you'll still win this week. I'm cursed for the season, I'll find a way to screw up.

Here are my stats:
W L SV BB K ERA WHIP
1 2 2 10 19 3.38 1.17 MY TEAM
2 0 0 14 27 3.86 1.50 OPPONENT

I was leading in Ks until yesterday. obviously the L isn't going to matter because that category is lost no matter what. (unless his closers blow games and get losses). I think I might have to do it.

Pettitte was my only decent pitcher this week. Colon sucked again. Moyer did well in other categories for me but the L still happened. But he's undefeated so it wouldn't have mattered. This blows.

Wow, I hate to root against the Yankees, but I need the W tonight. I scored next to nothing this week.
