Expos' El Duque to Miss Start of Season

VIERA, Fla. (AP) - Montreal right-hander Orlando Hernandez will miss at least one regular season start because of tendinitis in his shoulder.
Hernandez, who has sat out the past 10 days, could begin throwing again in another week. Hernandez will likely stay in Florida when the Expos leave to pitch from the minor league Brevard County Manatees.
``He's getting better,'' Montreal general manager Omar Minaya said. ``He's coming along pretty good.''
Hernandez, the Expos projected No. 2 starter, will be evaluated again at the end of the week. Minaya said the team did not want to rush his progress.
Hernandez has not pitched since March 13 when he threw four innings for a win against Cleveland.
Late last week, the Expos found out projected opening day starter Jose Vazquez will miss time with a strained calf muscle. It still is unclear whether he will be ready to go for the opener, and he will be evaluated again later this week.
