The only excerise you get is walking and using your arms. Am I missing something?
This is how Sport is defined by Dictionary.com:
sport (spôrt, sprt)
n.
[list=1]
An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.
An active pastime; recreation.

Looks like Golf meets those criteria to me...

Lifeguarding is more of a job...
Swimming could be classified as a sport though.

Baseball basketball and football are the only three sports that we have. Everything else is an activity.
Swimming is not a sport. Swimming is a way to keep from drowning.
And golf? Please. Golf is not a sport. Please, tell me about the white hot competition present in country clubs where each "athlete" is dressed dumber than the other, as they vie to see who can hit a little white ball with a crooked stick.
Maybe this can answer the question...hehehe

Yeah, when I'm looking for a leisurly activity on a Saturday afternoon, I typically dress in my hockey pads and go knock some teeth...

butnud, looks like we're in for another round of 'what is a sport?' i still don't think we can all find a definition to agree on. but i definitely think that baseball is the only sport that matters!:)

now Cali thats true about baseball being the only sport but if Golf isn't a sport then what is golf then?

Rythmic gymnastics, syncronized swimming, syncronized diving, trampolining, ball room dancing, air pistol--the mere fact that some activity is given a "scoring system" and placed on the Olympic schedule doesn't make it a sport.
I tend to concur with Henry Ford's view that golf is simply an unnecessary activity consisting of trying to put a ball into a hole in the ground with an instrument ill-suited to the task.

No better way to waste time.
Soccer's a sport... LOL! We get made fun of by all of the football players who say that it's not a sport because we don't get hit... Oh yeah! You shoulda seen how many senior dudes I knocked down (let's see, on my school's varsity team, I got the most yellow cards! I guess I shouldn't be too proud of that should I?). Oh and people have told me Softball isn't a sport... Yes it is! We run more laps than your baseball team, we have to have a faster reaction time, and we have to hit it harder to make it go as far as a baseball, but yet we're not a sport?? Someone was smokin something when they dreamed that one up! Baton twirling is considered a "sport" but it's more of an "art", but yet they wear T-Shirts that say "the sport with talent" does this mean I'm talentless... But then again, fishing is considered a "sport" too...

Golf rules.
I didn't say that every single thing that is played in the Olympics is a sport...
A sport is an activity designed to compete against others.
Well:
swimming, your trying to out swim your oppenent.
soccer, hockey, basketball, baseball your tring to outscore the other team....
soudns like a sport to me!

I couldn't make that up if I tried! I read that he actually said it, so more power to him! And he's right...lots of white dudes be pimpin' it on the back 9! (As you can see, it's another un-eventful day where I work! I'm on a sugar buzz right now out of sheer boredom.)
I don't view golf as a "real" sport either, butnud, it's just a long, expensive walk in some ugly shoes. But it's fun to cruise around in the little cart with a pitcher full of margaritas! (That's the fondest golfing memory I have!)

Hey, forgive me, I didn't know you asked??? The answer is NYET for now, as I got rid of the piece of junk computer I had at home, but am shopping right now for a new one, and as soon as I can talk someone into purchasing it for me for Christmas (because I've been a VERY good girl this year), I'll let you know. :)
