Get In Line!
The last five thousand tickets available for the final home game will go on sale at Noon, Saturday August 17.
Kurt & Curt come to Linguist Stadium to do battle for PERHAPS the top spot in the League's strongest division. (The Cunning Linguists still have to get thru Week #20 unscathed.)
Cunning Linguist Manager #1PaFan: "I think the Lord's Manager and I both had this game circled on the calender. I'm sure that the players on both teams will really come to play their hearts out. We will need some more luck to overtake the Lords this time.
"We respect the Lords' rampage through the League. To get this far with only two losses is just simply amazing. Especially in the Ruth Division, which dominated this league with an almost ridiculous ease. On a personal note, I respect the Lords' owner/manager for keeping within the confines of the 'Spirit of the Game.'
"It would have been very easy for him to take a 'Limp Dick Chicken ................' approach to the game and OBSCURE the intent of the rules to give his team a greater advantage, but he NEVER did. He stayed true to the spirit of the game. AND, he kicked some SERIOUS, SERIOUS ASS in the process....."
Next week looks like Fun, Fans!!!

I've turned into a hater fan, since my team is out of it, and is likely out of existance too. I can't stand hater fans, but as long as the Linguists don't win it all, i'll be happy :)

well here we are, 1/7 of the way thru what may prove to be the final game of the seas... :( we're still hopeful commish sax will drop his silly luxury tax proposal and allow the seas and baseball to continue.. this has been a great seas thus far, and it'd be a shame to wipe it all out... but we shall see....
anways, i gotta tip my hat to my formidable opponent this week, the linguists... i gotta admit, when the seas started i didn't give them a snowball's chance in hell to survive our extremely competitive aptly named RUTH division.. i figured fer ser it'd be a battle between me and the west haven red sux all the way... but as usual the sux only looked good on paper... even though initially anyways, the linguists did uh, lick me, (i'm so ashamed) back in week 2 or 3, it was my weakest performance of the seas and i still said no way is THAT team gonna compete w/ the lords...
and all of a sudden this guy goes on a friggin rampage... i think it had to start the day he snagged my recently released former ace washburn... :( he already started the seas w/ a good rotation but bolstered it through free agent market.. he snags pettitte, then simontacchi, oliver perez, saarloos... he was smart enough to avoid the emotional attachment to strugglin yanks rhp mussina and w/ his bolstered rotation dealt from a position of strength trading moose for berkman, in one of the better trades of the year...
i'll certainly have to nominate the linguists gm briana cashwoman for the exec of the year award...
views from the lords:
lords ace curt shilling, "yeah we respect em, but we ain't scared of em... just gime the ball 7 str8 days..."
lords closer ugueth urbina, "eff the mother effin linguists.. ju wanna go to war, i'll take ju tyo war...:"
lords lhp boomer wells, "i don't like em.. i don't like their fans.. they had the nerve to call my great grandma a fat ole b___ ! they got no class... hey you got smething fer this green ................ growin between my toes..."
lords veteran of carl everett says, "i don't believe cunning linguists exist"
lords manager, joey t, "if we play our game, we should be fine, but it's gonna be tough.. they're a veteran team w/ a strong rotation, they don't make too many mistakes... although we've been winning lately, we've been doing it inspite of our pitching, w/ boomer, redman, ortiz and astacio all coming off rocky outings...
lords owner, the boss, "i love this time of year, i've invested alot in this team, my gm and manager assure me we got the stuff to win, and i trust em... i gotta tip my hat to the linguists though.. for a small market team they sure gotta lotta fight in em... nice to know my revenue sharing contribution actually gets invested in the team... hat's off to ya pa, and good luck" http://www.gamers-forums.com/smilies/otn/party/beerchug.gif

Sax Selig was busy grooming his scales atop a mound of gold within the Lonely Mountain, and was unavailable for comment. (Hey, 'Sax Smaug' would make for a much better commish, wouldn't it? A little more fearsome than Bud's super-nerd haircut, that's for sure.)
Be seeing you,

Keep in mind, Smaug was VERY smelly, as is the case with most amphibians that set themselves in a steamy hole for a hundred years..

Sadly, this does little to harm the analogy.
