Well, here we are at the cusp, whatever the hell that means, of a new season. Fab. Congratulations to everyone who took part in the draft - I think we did very well. The total draft time was well under 2 hours for 300 players drafted, at a rate of around 3 per minute. Pretty good. Analysis of who did best out of the draft is best left to the other threads, but I think I can say that we've got the makings of a very competitive league, and everyone's got the making of a good squad. 15 turned out to be a pretty good number for balancing of rosters, IMHO.
Anyway, here's the fixtures for week 1:
West Haven Yankees v Buckeye Bombers
Lords of Flatbush v German Gold Gloves
YankeesRule2002 v Junior’s Bashers
Cunning Linguists v Italian Ice
YRMbombers2002 v Michigan Wolverines
Bad News Bears v Saxmania’s Swingers
Bambino’s Ghost v FP Balloon Knots
Remember, if you're playing at home, that means you will win any ties in points at the end of the week. We will have no draws in this here league! Babe's Piano Playaz have the bye this week - sorry, Babe, but that's what happens with an odd number of teams.
Fixtures start on Sunday and end on Saturday. Roster changes take effect Saturday midnight, so you play with the same team all week. I'll post a list of the results and the new week's fixtures on Sunday, plus the standings, however meaningless they will be at this early stage. In the future, if I can't make the Sunday, either the results will go up on Monday, or I'll ask another owner to do the deed. Either way, you can easily keep track of your own match - just note your and your opponent's points total at the start of the match, and subtract it from their total at the end.
The schedule is arranged so that two divisions each week are playing inter-division games, with the third division playing internally. The third division will therefore include the team with the bye that week. The final matchups are all intra-division, to try and improve the "pennant run" feel of things. You will play the teams in your division both home and away, and the teams in other divisions home OR away. You should have 9 home and 9 away games - if not, please let me know ASAP. The schedule can be found elsewhere on this forum.
I think that's pretty much it. Let the games begin! (I'm away over the weekend, otherwise I would have posted this closer to Opening Day.)

Sax...according to my schedule, I have 8 away games and 10 home games. If you can, please switch it to the 9 away and 9 home game format. Thanks:)

Aren't you the same person, that gave my team a grade A ?
german goldgloves has pretty good balance w/ superstuds, piazza, alomar griffey complemetned by emerging stars beltran, floyd, young and burroughs (did ya homework ) and a solid rotation led by aces pedro, and cc sabathia... i could still recall the days when piazza, alomar griff and pedro wouldda all been #1's grade a

Yanks, assuming that you are the owner of YRMbombers, I have you at 9 and 9, both by my records, and by the posted list. I have missed a bit of spacing, so perhaps you could double-check to make sure you get the count and 10 and 8.

I have a question. Since the maximum games per position is 162, and since I have a bye week, is there any point to benching my entire team so that I can be assured I don't hit the maximum later in the season?

I think that Yahoo requires you to have 16 active players in yur lineup at all times - remember, the site doesn't know that you have a bye - so I doubt that would work. Nice try, though. It's not really much of an issue, since we're not allowing day-to-day lineup alterations, but I don't think it's possible anyway.

AHHHHHH!!! I'm gonna lose first week!!! TO PETE!!! I forgot that this league was a set roster for each week (I have too many teams to keep track of and I alter rosters day to day for almost all of them...so I alter all of them a week in advance) and I HAVE RANDY JOHNSON ON THE BENCH!!! AHHHHHHH!!!!

Well, I've got a lot of injuries, but Jim Thome got the first RBI of the season for my team. Let's see how the rest of the week goes.
