It was suggested I stop by here and introduce myself...I'm fairly new to baseball, having grown up overseas. My interest really began when my own boys started playing. (Although I DID play once with former Phillies Catcher Darren Daulton in my cousins backyard 20+ years ago! LOL)
I became a Yankees fan because of my son really...a few years back I decided to find a baseball camp to send him to for his birthday. An internet search led me to a former Yankee pitcher who is spending his retirement teaching baseball to kids. My son has worked with him twice a year ever since...I wouldn't call myself a bandwagon fan, because to me that refers to somebody who jumps from winning team to winning team...I just started with the best and that's where I intend to stay! ;)

In my younger days, yes. I was born in the US but moved to Belgium as a kid, then the UK before returning to the US when I was in High School.:D

You write just fine...I've seen many who (claim) english as their first language who don't write as well as you do! I spent some time in Germany when we were in Europe...mostly in Rothenburg o.d.Tauber. We had friends there...

Hi Caroline...
I'm not sure why it took me this long to visit this board, but I'm glad I did! After the past few months of trolls and whale sightings at the other board, I guess I got tired of looking for legitimate posts. Spring Training is getting closer and I need some real baseball talk, from real baseball fans...enough of the "dogs" and "gerbils" playing on their masters computers while they're at work... :rolleyes:

well welcome to a board with real baseball fans (not that some of the people on the other board don't amuse me to death). I would love to see people like Cancerman, etc venture on over here. Wanna help me convince them?

Wow, what movie was that? That is where we got the name. It was my son's screen name but I stole it from him since he's not really old enough to have his own screen name. Jack has coached my son a couple times a year for the past few years. He is a wonderful man, very patient and very positive. My son adores him. Jack says my son has the biggest "Jack Aker collection" other than his own. His nickname Chief came from his (part) Indian heritage. He still travels around the country to various Indian Reservations teaching the kids to play baseball for free. One of the most genuinely nice people I've ever met.

Let me know the title of the movie! We'll have to track a copy down! :D

that's what you'll get here LilChief...you've come to the right place!! :) I just booked my trip to Spring Training last week and I'm jonesing so badly for baseball, I'm going a bit nuts!! One Q & A with Clemens this week got me so pumped and now nothing!! :D

Well, I'm not much for hot stove so this offseason seems so, so long...when ST starts, you'll see this place really pick up!!

Hi Lil Chief. I was also a former poster on y.com. I was NYYCutie472 and I posted in August of 2001. You may not remember me but if you look in the archives I am there telling off the trolls. I got tired of that and joined here when I was web surfing for Shane Spencer pics on the net one day. I loved it here ever since. I know you will love it here too and I cannot wait to see you post more.
