Okay Yankee faithful. Once upon a time(early 70s) there were four guys doing the Yankee Radio and TV broadcasts. Two were in the TV booth and two were in the radio booth. Rizutto, White and Messer were three.
Who the heck was that fourth guy???!!!!!
All my meager brain cells can come up with is Jim somethingorother. But I really don't know for sure.
ANYONE????

Jerry Coleman was the fourth guy in the booth!
Boy they had it all over McCarver and Buck!
Sorry, I think sis is wrong. They had a Bob Gamere.
He had a crew cut and once instead of saying the pitchers
were up throwing in the bullpen, he said "and they're throwing up
in the Indian bullpen". I think he lasted two seasons tops.

You're right. Coleman was before Gamare...ALL of them better than the pinheads of today...Although I like Murcer for obvious reasons...

Gamere isn't the guy I remember. I think Gamere was only there for a year. This guy was there "after" him. But thanks anyway. I guess nobody knows.

In the late 70s, Fran Healy joined the trio on the radio side.
Garagliola, and Jerry Coleman were there around that time. Didn't Murcer come in about that era also. Then there was Red Barber

Red Barber came before the rest of them. He was supposedly fired because he made the comment one day about how few fans there were in the stadium for a game. Management didn't like his honesty!
I think the 4th guy was Jerry Coleman who was a veteran of the Korean War and a pretty good second baseman for NY in the early 50's. He later became a broadcaster and still is one for the Padres. I also think he may have managed them for awhile.

I know nothing about Bob Gamere, but I always thought Coleman said that line.
Bob Gamere eventually became a sportscaster in Greater Boston...apparently he had a rep for having a few too many and was dubbed Bob "Two Beer" Gamere...:gulp: :gulp:
