Been a Yankee fan for over 50 years and this is my first post on this forum. I left the MSG board because it was dominated by a few "fans" who refused to respect other people's opinions and felt that they had to inject four letter words into their messages to try and make a point. I'm no prude but I don't think it's in the best interests of all fans to be subjected to seeing the abuse that nameless people can give out. I admit that, as a youngster growing up in Yankee/Red Sox country, I was emotional at times defending the players on my beloved Yankees against those on the Red Sox......you know, Ted Williams/Joe DiMaggio, Bobby Doerr/Joe Gordon, Johnny Pesky/Phil Rizzuto etc. Now I realize that there really are some good players on other teams and, if they are decent guys who respect the game, I'll give them due credit. Always, however, I will root for the Yankees.
Today's loss bothered me. I'm not saying they would have won but the home plate ump squeezed the hell out of El Duque and when that happens the whole at-bat changes. Even ole Stanton threw a couple of border line curves when he came in that were called balls so you knew he was going to go his fast ball and that's when McLemore cleared the bases. Again, they wouldn't have won but I just wish Major League baseball would get better umpires and get rid of the Wally Bell's, the Jerry Lanes and today's guy, Sedestrom. The players deserve nothing less.
