Papa Bear himself...Player-coach-owner of Chicago Bears from 1920-83; signed Red Grange in 1925; coached Bears for 40 seasons and won 8 NFL titles (1921,32-33,40-41,43,46,63); 2nd on all-time career list with 324 wins; elected to NFL Hall of Fame in 1963...

Football ?!? What does Chicago Bears Football have to do with Yankees History ?!?

Well, before he became "Papa Bear", George Halas wore YANKEES PINSTRIPES !!

In 1919, he appeared in 12 games as an outfielder !!

Below is a rare photo of him takin a hack...

I believe our Yanks once drafted Danny Kanell too, if you want to call him a football player. :)

You know so much, what former Knick forward once pitched for the Tigers?

The one that played on the last championship team with my favorite Nick (walt frazer), and Reed, Bradley, and Monroe. Coached by the redman.

The sixth man on that team is the coach of the Lakers today.

The answer is Dave The bushman.

What astounds me more than anything else is that, while in college, Tony Gwynn was the PG for San Diego St. also :p
