Nineteen year old, catcher, JR Murphy the Yankees 2nd round pick ($1.25 million bonus) in 2009 has been sent from extended spring training to Charleston in the Sally League. He has started well at 333/467/800, with two doubles and five ribbies in his first four games.<p>Murphy has an excellent reputation for plate discipline and a high baseball IQ. He has received rave reviews from scouts for his pure hitting. So far he is living up to that reputatation.

It is strange that we have gone from having no catching prospects to hoardes of them. Finding catchers is difficult, so you might think that if we decided to do the same thing in order to find OF or IF prospects, it would be easier, yet it doesn't seem to be the case.

realistically, if everything comes together, our starting lineup can have montero in RF, murphy at C, and cervelli at SS by 2011

he's already played IF in his career... in fact, he came up as an IFer before they converted him
they can shift him to SS and move jeter to 2nd after they trade cano for tim lincecum

Cervelli at SS? I don't think he has the body for SS anymore...and what about Romine?

Excellent points. Why isn't anybody else struck by this?

Promises. Promises. That's all I have to say, Hughes. I've been hearing it for years and hope you don't turn blue waiting.
