It was pretty dumb... but the way the game was going, not sure I blame him.
With Kearns batting... we might have had a better chance just letting Gardner steal his way home.
Not that I agree with the attempt, but you gotta keep in mind Gardner made it super close even on a throw to third.
it was a bad play w/ 2 outs. he can score on just about any hit from 2nd. almost pointless there. benoit's control is pretty good, so scoring on a WP is unlikely.
that said, however, Benoit definitely balked.

Missed it correcting homework but didn't Kearns lead off the next inning with a knock? I know falacy of the predetermined outcome and all but...
I know, just saying the way the game was going I could see where Gardner was coming from although it was still clearly a lapse in judgment.

He left too early, everyone new what was coming. He shouldve took a pitch or two. The way the Yanks are sleep walking through these past few games he needed to get something going.
