Since there was chatter that the Red Sox wanted the series moved because they did not believe the grass would be in playing condition due to the NHLs Winter Classic @ Fenway, will MLB/Yanks approve the move, so they can raise the banner on a sunday night game and move the monday game?
Whats your thoughts?

That would be sweet, just like when they raised the 04 banner in our faces opening day 2005

Poor Roid Sox fans. They cant escape or turn off the TV when the Yankees are playing the Sox. Roid Sox Nation is going to reminded every second who won the World Series.
No. The Yankees are not permitted to open or close the season at home during the regular season under any circumstances.

So you think the Red Sox will agree to this? Highly doubtful.

They can move it to YS as long as the yanks get their rings that day.

I'm sure the moment Mo got the last out the Red Sox decided to keep their home opener.

And they have to play more games on the west coast than anyone else also.
Its in the MLB bylaws.
Any idea when they'll raise the banner in 2010? Pretty unlikely they'd make it opening day. More likely they'll do it on a weeknight...

Roadtrip!!!
Fenway Park on Opening Day in Yankees gear. It will feel good returning to Boston again. The spot was a little too hot to go when they were winning. Now, I can show up again, championship gear and all.

The World Series flag is always risen on the home opener.

That'd good to know. I could not remember - is it that the rings are given out on another night?

Why would you think that??
On the other hand, unlike other teams the Yankees of the '90's didn't receive their rings on opening day.

I think it's the rings that you had in mind when you said not opening day. To get more people at more games, they often raise the banner on the home opener and hand out the rings at a later date.

When did the phillies get their rings last year?

Yep. Its the rings I had in mind. I plan to be at opening day, and I hope we have decent notice for the ring night.

I was reading last month that ESPN was going to do away with the opening night game being with the world champions at home.
Unless that's changed (I mean, they really only did it for 5 years), I wouldnt mind opening up on the road in Fenway Park.
