Tomorrow night, 7pm. Be there or be square.

First big movement of picks, Washington gives the 5th overall pick away to Minnesota.

Celtics have the 58th pick (yeah!) so this will be a boring night for me.

But I've got the Rondo rumors going for me, which is nice.

Do the C's need a PF?

Would Knicks fans trade DLee and the #8 for Rondo? Would Boston fans? I'm feeling that was a dumb hypothetical, but nevertheless...

Well the Celts do have that KG guy at Pf, and id bet they bring one of Leon Powe (Though he wont be back until mid season) or Glen Davis back, while neither of them are as good as Lee they are similar type players. Itd basically be trading for a backup pf and the 8th pick in a draft that is only average, also if they were to trade Rondo i would assume they'd want a pg coming back to them.

I'd think Rondo will only go if the Celts get a package around the 2nd or 3rd pick or a deal similar to the Conley and Gay one, though im not sure they even do that.

Both Big Baby and Powe are FA's and Powe isn't expected back until January or some time around there. I mean, they signed Mikki Moore last year because he was tall.

As for that trade, I'd say no. They could use someone like Lee of the bench for when Garnett needs rest of Perk gets into foul trouble or has shoulder issues. And if Rubio fell to 8, it would intriguing, turning one good young player into two good young players, but I still don't know.

I just read on a Knicks board that the Knicks have purchased the 28th pick in the draft for $3 million.

Can anyone confirm this?

- James Harden will be the best player in this draft
- The T-Wolves will move up in the draft

These are my predictions from early yesterday that I posted in the Knicks topic. One of them already is true.

Everything I've read about this draft is that it is really, really deep. The top end may not be deep, but on the whole there are a lot of guys who could be available at 28 who could easily go in the teens.

Isn't the knock on him that he is VERY slow? Like Molasses slow?

Dream, care to share some info on Harden?
Sure.

It's a given we won't be getting him but if I were the GM I would make every attempt to get him. Who knows though, maybe he could drop but I can't see him getting past the Timberwolves who now possess both the #5 and #6 picks. I don't care if we got Wilson and Danilo, they could always be traded.

Harden, although, profound to be a definite top 5 pick is being neglected in this draft, as far as I see it. Whenever there is an analyst or a fan talking about the draft, they mention Blake Griffen as the only player that stands out in the draft. And the reason he does get overlooked a bit is because his game is so smooth and he doesn't stand out. He is a player with tangibles, like Tim Duncan, who does all the things right and is looked upon as a leader. Another example, Brandon Roy. He was also neglected when he got drafted, being drafted a little later and then being traded. This is because he doesn't stand out.

These types of players are always the best ones that are labeled as "WINNERS". Harden is very mature as a basketball player and his basketball IQ is special. He knows what he's doing on the floor, unlike guys like Tyreke Evans and Brandon Jennings who have no idea what they're doing and will become "empty stat" players in the NBA. If you want a prime example of empty stat players, you can just look at two former Knicks Stephon Marbury and Jamal Crawford. One of which hasn't made it to the playoffs once and the other hasn't won a playoff series once, no wonder.

Now about his game... he is Brandon Roy but he is a winger so I'd slot him as a mix between Roy and Turkoglu or Manu. Definitely will be a slasher in the NBA and he will be a successful one with the combination of his scoring ability and his body type. Plus, he is never afraid to use his body. James is also seen as a very unselfish player. When I watched him with Arz. St., he'd pass when he needed to and score when he needed to. He just knows what he's doing.

He'll definitely be a fun player to watch in the NBA, so keep an eye on him.
Here's his player profile from his Sophmore year at Az St. - http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=36072

I understand but he's a UNC product. UNC is the true winner, not him. If he were on Arizona State like Harden, he wouldn't be winning nothing. I'm not disagreeing with you, but IMO Harden is the prime example of a potential "WINNER" in the NBA.

And about the draft & the Knicks. If we draft that kid Jrue Holiday who couldn't even start for his own college team, I will not be pleased. Hopefully it's Rubio or Curry tomorrow.

As I posted on a different site, I see it as good news because shows the Knicks are trying to acquire a later first-rounder and they are not hard to get at all so maybe we can get a higher pick like in the 20-25 range instead of pick #27, like the Blazers just did with acquiring the #22 an hour ago

No worries, we will buy a late first-rounder any time soon

I haven't seen enough of Harden to knock him or promote him, but if he can't stay in front of NBA players(hearing a lot of slow comments/scouting reports), no amount of win method cool-aid will help him. Tim Duncan is super slow and super unathletic, but he is also super-skilled.

The late round pick doesn't mean much to me now. I'm concerned about the Knicks doing whatever the F they can to move up to 2(Chad Ford reporting that Memphis/Chris Wallace may be reluctant to pick Rubio since Gasol and Navarro had horrible experiences w/ Memphis/Wallace and may talk to Rubio about this). Lee + 8 Pick won't sway them? I really have no idea about any of the players in this draft, but everyone has such a massive hard on for Rubio, he cannot be ignored. We must have him. This is the same guy who gave Gasol to the Lakers for ... I can't remember.

The problem with Rubio is that he can't shoot. People have the nerve to compare him to Pistol Pete but Pistol Pete was a great shooter and it was ok to be that skinny in that era. He's a great distributor but the catalyst of those fun teams that D'Antoni put together was Steve Nash who obviously can shoot the lights out. If I'm the Knicks, I'm doing everything I can to get Steph Curry. Even if you decide you have to use him as a combo guard, you have this year to see if he can run the point and if he can't you potentially play him in the backcourt with Lebron and let him guard the smaller man. Put Chandler at the 3, sign Bosh and get a serviceable bigman with some athleticism. As far as I'm concerned Steph Curry is the only guy I trade up to get apart form maybe Thabeet.

Well, you live on Long Island like myself.
There's no channel to watch Rubio play ball in Spain
Therefore, you must've seen him in the Olympics in the championship game. Yeah, you can really tell a lot who an 18 year old player is by one game against the best players in the world.

Jeez, he will have a jumpshot in the NBA. He is 19 years old, so much room for improvement.
NOTE: Nash shot only 42% when he was 21 against easy college competition (Santa Barbara) , while Rubio is 19 and playing professional basketball in Spain shooting near 40%. Now stop.

Just from a subjective standpoint here, there are many ways to watch someone play without seeing them on TV.

I don't have Fox Soccer Channel but I still manage to see Liverpool play 10-15 times a year.

Chad Ford: Good news, Knicks fans. Timberwolves GM David Kahn may allow the Knicks to have their guy after all.

As we've reported, the Wolves are willing to talk about moving the No. 5 and No. 18 picks for either the No. 2 or No. 3 pick in the draft.

But if they can't get that done, they have a number of other options. We've mentioned Ricky Rubio, James Harden, Tyreke Evans and Stephen Curry as possibilities. Add Jonny Flynn to that list as well. Sources say the Wolves are strongly considering Flynn with one of their two lottery picks ... if Rubio is off the board.

If they take Flynn, chances are they'll pass on Curry, giving the Knicks a shot at drafting their target.

They also mention Jennings dropping out of the lottery.

Would it be possible to get Curry AND Jennings without paying an enormous price? Man, that would be fun.

Chad Ford was saying on Simmon's podcast that Hansborough suprised a lot of scouts/teams when they saw him because he actually measured out to be 1/2 an inch taller than Griffin, much more athletic than they thought, a solid jumper, and a 6'11/7 foot wingspan. He's pretty much the same size as Amare.

4 years of excellence at UNC doesn't matter? At the very worst(and I guess this is pretty bad), he ends up being Christian Laetner. He's more aggresive than Laetner and seems to have that relentless energy to pursue rebounds. Yeah he's not going to jump out of the gym, but that doesn't stop guys from being effective in the NBA.

I'm an UNC fan, so I watched Ty for 4 years. And I'll say this....a guy with his toughness, work ethic and heart....there will always be a place in the NBA for a guy with those qualities. He may not be the most physically gifted player, but he plays above his talent level, he gives 110% every night and he isnt afraid to throw his body around.

There have been many guys who made a nice career for themselves while not being all that talented...but succeeded cuz of work ethic, toughness, willingness to sacrafice their body and an engine that never quit. Oakley is a guy who comes to mind. It wouldnt surprise me at all to see Hansbrough carve himself out a nice NBA career.

8. James Harden

Analysis: The Knicks will be disappointed if Curry, Rubio, Hill and Evans are all off the board. But they'll still be relieved to find Harden here. The Knicks believe the draft is seven players deep and Harden is one of those seven.

If Harden is snatched up by the Thunder or the Timberwolves, they look at Jrue Holiday, Brandon Jennings, DeMar DeRozan and Gerald Henderson. I think they will prioritize point guard and Holiday has a very slim lead over Jennings.

This could be interesting:

Brandon Jennings is scheduled to be one of the 15 players in the green room at the draft. But he could be pulled from the green room. Representatives of Jennings were huddling to make a decision on Thursday.

The fear is that Jennings will slide if Golden State (unlikely after the trade to get Speedy Claxton and Acie Law from Atlanta for Jamal Crawford) at No. 7, the Knicks at No. 8 or the Bucks at No. 10 all pass on him. If that happens then Jennings would likely fall into the 20s. Jennings' camp wants to avoid an embarrassing situation where Jennings is sitting there and not selected for a while. If they can get assurances that he will be picked high enough then he will stay in the room.

I think Vince Carter to the Magic actually hurts that team a bit.

Guess what?

8: Stephen Curry

Confidence level (if available): 100 percent

Analysis: Rejoice, Knicks fans. I know we thought it was a long shot, but under this scenario the Knicks land the guy they've coveted all along, as the Wolves will have to decide between Flynn and Curry to run the point. The Wolves want a true point who can be a leader on the floor and play some defense, so Curry drops.

Curry could also go to the Warriors, but if that happens the Knicks get the other guy they covet -- Jordan Hill.

07:07 PM: RUMOR: The Warriors and Suns are discussing a trade in which Amare Stoudemire would go to Golden State for Andris Biedrins, Brandan Wright and Marco Belinelli, along with possibly the 7th overall pick, according to ESPN's Ric Bucher.

The New York Knicks are working hard to cut a deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves to acquire guard Ricky Rubio, a Western Conference said.

One league GM said a deal “isn’t 100 percent,” but likely.

The T’wolves took Rubio fifth followed by Syracuse guard Jonny Flynn.
