It looks like Henry is willing to take the Globe off the Times' hands if they'll give up their ownership stake in the Sox.

I think Henry wants control over the Times' ownership stake in the Red Sox.

I guess everyone with a RSN membership will now get a free paper for the year.
Obviously the Sox aren't suffering in this economy, are they? They just buy out everything! ;)

At this rate, there won't be an outlet, anywhere in Boston, for a negative word about the Sox.

I can The Globe's Headline if The Yankees beat The Red Sox in an ALCS (please, God!) - "Red Sox finish second in ALCS; Yankees come in next to last."

Well Red is a filthy Communist color....
They had trouble buying a hit tonight, perhaps they'd do better trying to buy a paper.

The Sox could get it for cheap, make it the official paper of the sox and, if they wanted, make it the exclusive paper of the Red Sox.

Print media, with very few exceptions, is dying and daily print is on life support. They are astute business people so I imagine they have an idea or two to make it work. It would be a huge public service to keep it running but it's been a money pit for several years and shows no signs of improving.
Maybe they're doing it to say that no longer have money to compete with the Yankees because it's all tied up in in the newspaper business.

It was a 100% complete assumption on my part, but I could see it happening.

Maybe they can hire Lupica. Let Boston pay him to bash the Yankees instead of the NY Daily News.
Gotta love the irony of the long liberal union supporting Times trying to break their own union
