Griffen the Yankees number 1 pick in the 2001 draft, bonus 1.2million has raised his average to 337 with 3hr`s 24rbi 10 2b.Griffen out of Fla State had 3 -400avg seasons at that school.he has the perfect swing for Yankee Stadium and has been compared to Don Mattingly. This is one number 1 draft pick that should make it to the big show with the Bombers.I would project an ETA2004-05.
I've heard that, since he's a very polished college player, he could make it to the Bigs as early as 2003, or quite possibly September of 2002. That may be optimistic, but he's obviously got a very good bat.

As I stated before he was a steal. By 2003 for sure. Sean Henn might possibly come right along with him.

He's definitely above the talent level in the NY-Penn league, but the Yankees are right to take their time and let him adjust to wooden bats and the professional game.
In fact, there are only a handful of hitters in the Yankee minor league system that I think are more polished as a hitter than Griffin. I would expect to see him in 2003 with a chance at getting a sept. callup in 2002 even.

As a hitter, he seems to really know what he's doing up at the plate. I've seen him play, and I think people are pretty accurate in saying that he has the perfect swing for Yankees Stadium. His swing isn't much of an uppercut, he has more of a level, straight through-the-zone hack. That's why he hits for a high average, gets a lot of extra base hits into the gaps, etc. His swing reminds me of O'Neill's, he goes the other way, fouls a lot of pitches off, seems to have a similar approach at the plate.
I think it's still too early to tell, if he moves up to say AA next year, it will depend on what he does at AA that will be the telltale sign of how long it will take him before he's a major league hitter.
But from watching him play, he seems to be a real promising hitter.

Everything you guys said, ditto. I live on Staten island and have been to some games, and damn, he can swing the lumber.
