hey guys,
I'm going to a yankees game next week against boston and was hoping to go to monument park. As far as I can tell, you just show up early enough and they let you in? With no other fee? Is that correct? (I have upper deck tickets)
Thanks a lot!

Wow, I guess it is a popular thing in the last year of it haha. I'm assuming they are moving the monuments to the new stadium ?

Yes, they are moving the monuments to the new stadium.
To echo what was posted above, you have to be there pretty early to get in. My wife and I went two hours early to a game in June and couldn't get in.

I went a few weeks back and got to the gates two and a half hours before game time (the gates weren't open yet). When we went inside, they stopped letting people in to Monument Park right after me, so I would plan on getting there about three hours before game time.
Also, make sure you get a spot right in front of the gate, so you'll be right there in the front of the line when it opens.
Have fun.

Quite honestly, you would think that the players that have passed were actually interred in Monument Park! I have been there 3 or 4 times. It's certainly a nice take, but I don't know if I would go to such extents to go there now. Some plaques, the stone monuments (which are the REAL attractions for me) and nice landscaping. It would truly be a travesty if they charged an additional fee to walk around in there. OMG - hope the Yankee brass didn't just get a great new idea for the other side of the street!

I took my young niece there a few years ago. She was scared because she thought they were all buried there.
Speaking of graves, I've been to Babe Ruth's grave in Westchester (as well as Billy Martin's about 20 feet away) a few times. It's pretty cool.

I went to the Yanks/Royals game, 08/17. The rule of thumb is that it closes 45 minutes before a game. I suggest getting at the stadium when the gates open because the line is long. I barely made it and was in line for a while. Plus, it doesn't matter where you sit because the stadium is open to roaming around the park until maybe an hour before the game. Do It!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad you asked this. I'll be there for the first and only time on 9/12, and I definitely want to take my dad to Monument Park before the game. :)
I really wanted to do a Stadium tour but it's sold out. :(

I didn't know there was separate monument park tours and stadium tours, is this the case?
Also, I knew that advanced tickets for the stadium tour were sold out, but don't they have a few walkup tickets if you get there early enough?
We tried to get in to Monument Park on Wednesday night, and were told it was already closed and only people who had special tickets could get in. This despite the fact that the scoreboard was still saying MONUMENT PARK IS OPEN. The guard who was standing there just saying over and over "Monument Park is closed" didn't seem to know anything more, either.
I've seen it many times so I'm not all that concerned for myself, but for people making their last pilgrimages to the stadium it kinda sucks.

Last month, I got to the stadium 2 hours early, got in line, and by the time I made my way to the entrance, they had already closed it up.
Definitely try to get there 3 hours early if you want to go -- the place is a madhouse right now.

Sometimes they add additional tours if there's demand. I'd keep checking.
