Now that CC and Harden have both been traded, has anyone heard any trade rumors for the yanks?

There's a rumor that this thread will be moved.

If only there was some sort of site that gathered mlb trade rumors and had links to rumors on each team. I wonder why no one has thought of that?

What the hell? I thought this was a legit topic!

It's a bit vague and there are many rumor threads in ITL II.

I would call it mlbtraderumors.com - it has a good ring to it.

An open letter to the NYY regulars...

The crowd has gotten a little rough around these parts. How about just explaining in a civil way that there are other places this question could go or pointing to other threads in progress instead of trying to make the guy who posted the question feel like a jerk? It's not like it was some loaded or inflammatory question. It seemed like a pretty honest attempt to have a discussion. Isn't that the point of a community forum? Does everything have to be in a pinpoint specific "official" thread all the time?

I am sure this next comment will get me flamed but I find myself coming here less and less as the tone gets more shrill and the group moderation more aggressive. If the objective is a smaller more procedure conscience base of particpants I would say we are well on our way.

Just my .02 Ok flame on.

If thread has to move then so be it... but thanks for starting this one....
Only thing I read was that the Yankees were keeping an eye on Nady and Bay and did not dismiss Sexson.
This was in the Post today.

For all the rules about language and negativity on this site, it is amazing how nasty some posters can be when someone new makes an innocent mistake. Not very welcoming.

Welcome to the internet.

That is not how it has to be everywhere. The same way mods can lock a thread in the wrong location, they can suspend/ban people who bring down the overall tone of the boards or even better the group can come together and let it be known that type of indivudual isn't welcome.

This site used to be MUCH more user friendly all of a year ago and the internet wasn't exaclty new.

Boards are all about the wisdom (or lack thereof) of crowds. If the majority want to set a tone of civility and smart discussion about the team that binds us all we can.

Or we can passively or overtly encourage the behavior of the sarcastic snipers and let this site devolve into somehting more like SOSH (sorry Sox fans but you know I am right).

The bigger a forum gets, the more it becomes like a typical internet forum.

Sad but true. However, I would offer that a combination of mods and diehards can beat back the tide, at least some. We don't have to just accept it and see what I think is one of the best boards on any topic become mediocre.

You'd think that but,

1) Too little mods/mods don't care/mods can't weed out everyone
2) diehards get fed up and leave/too little diehards to make a difference

I've been posting on internet forums regularly for almost a decade. None of this is new to me. Just gotta learn to adapt with a typical forum's evolution. If you don't like it, there's always thousands of other forums waiting with open arms.

"Baseball"

"On Base"

A thread where Yankee players are first rated by their .OBP and then discussed ad nauseum with stats, false logic, insults, and everything else not to do with the original subject. Now, that would be a NYYFans.com thread.

I agree. There is nothing wrong with starting this thread. The funny thing is that if a thread on the internet bothers you, you really don't have to open it. I know it sounds crazy but it might just work.

So some of you that are so tied up in the "Official" threads should probably just stick with those and leave the rest alone

Gotta tell you, you're not the only one who has been posting for years and the fact that some forums can go bad doesn't mean users have to accept that possibilty as inevitable. The community has the ability to set or reset the standards.

And the notion that there are "thousands of other forums waiting with open arms" is condescending and misguided. There are not thousands of quality, well populated forums on any subject.

As I like this forum and would prefer it remain a quality destination, I choose to stand up and advocate for what I want instead of accept the BS.

I would like to applaud Nuke's posts in this thread -- all of them -- and say that he probably speaks for a lot more people than you may realize.

We don't need another moderator. The mods have set an overall tone on this forum that is clear, and well-established. It's up to the rest of us to keep the tone around here fair and welcoming.

I'm kind of amazed that you would push back on Nuke as though his ideas themselves are unwelcome, making him feel as though he has to "stand up" (his words) for common sense and common decency.

Thanks Lou (and Toaderly). Getting props from guys like yourself who post as often and well as you do, validates my opinion of this forum and just generally feels like high praise.

And to anyone else who agrees with me, please call out the snipers when they are bringing down the tone of the site. Let's keep NYYfans the place intelligent Yankee fans come to get their online baseball fix. (and thus endeth the preaching)

As a nyyfans forum regular, I find that this thread is disrespectful. There is nothing wrong with posting this thread. Just look at the around the majors, how many Mariner threads do we need? This guy/gal is new. Give them a break. I know there are different cliques on this thread but we must keep the nyyfans standards- the one that welcomes new people and is very friendly and respectful.

Thanks.

Agreed. The only thing more annoying then useless threads is the people that constantly complain about them and try to play Moderator. Just don't reply!!
