I have tickets. Is it really worth heading to the Bronx? Been raining all day. Would they really make people sit in this crap only to call the game?
If there is one thing that I am sure of, it's that the Yanks will let everyone pay for parking and food before the cancel the game. .
I also have tickets tonight, and it looks terrible out right now.
here is the latest from accuweather...might be able to squeeze the game in...

There have been at least 3 games where the teams have waited until game time to call the game. That's gotta be frustrating as a fan. Good luck tonight!
I'm in the bronx right now. It's not raining, just grey skies. I think they'll get it in.

Last Fri I went to the stadium with similar weather conditions. My gut was not to go because it would get cancelled. Sure enough as soon as I stepped off the platform the damn game was cancelled. It seems that they cancel at about 7pm (twice so far this year and def in other years) which pisses me off to no end.

The forecast was worse last Friday and the Yankees still opened the gates and then called the game.
Maybe the fear of A Rod playing his first game on a wet field and possibly reinjuring himself will scare the Yankees into calling the game early.
The Yankees could schedule the make-up game for Sept.22. :P

I've been to two of them. Sitting in those stands in this weather is not very attractive right now.

It doesn't matter. The Yankees will open the gates. Keep us there to around 8 and if it's still raining postpone the game. When was the last time the Yankees called a night game BEFORE 5 PM?
Here's the problem.....the field is too good to call it early. Twice in the past five years the Yanks have called games early (mid to late afternoon) and come 7 pm it was not raining. COuld've gotten them both in.
So with a field that drains fabulously well, there's no real positive to calling the game unless it is an absolute that it will remain unplayable throughout the evening. Opening Day, last Friday, and tonight all kind of fall into that cateogory- crappy weather, but the possibility of windows.
Dammit. Today's my birthday and we have awesome seats - row B behind first base. Obviously if they cancel I'll get to go to the rescheduled game, and I'll be pissed if my birthday tickets get "wasted" to sit in the nasty cold drizzle all night.
Last time we got awesome seats was April 6 and of course it was nasty and cold that day, too.

I was listening to Mike and the Mad Dog yesterday and they were talking about Friday nights game. Apparently the Yankees do not make any money on parking (the city does) and it costs them $74,000 to open the Stadium to pay off employees, etc. So the assumption that they would wait to collect some money on food and beer isn't correct. They lose money when they open the Stadium and don't end up playing.

i went to the stadium last friday for the subway series and heard the announcement as we were getting hot dogs by the bowling alley....
i have tickets again for tonight and don't wanna get screwed on parking again....

Seriously, I spent at least $20 at Opening Day and that was in the bleachers with no beer. When there's no game, there's nothing TO do but eat. . .

Let's assume zero ticket revenue for a postponed game.
If 25,000 people walk in, and each of them by one little old thing (the oxygen itself costs more than $3 at YS) they are already profiting.
Normally they'll get more than 25K to show, and if there is no game, most peole will get a beer and pretzel or dog. That is 10 bucks right there. They could open the gates at 6:30 and close up shop at 7:30 and make more in a day than most do in a year.
My biggest complaint is the parking. I have no problem paying for a dog or beer if I eat it, game or no.
But to have unrefundable parking is a freaking scam. Even the airports are reasonable with that when you have a flight cancelled. You go to watch a game, you park to watch a game, if there is no game, they should refund the $$ or at least issue a voucher/credit for a person to come back and park for the next game for free.
That is what really peeves me.
You cannot really complain about paying for stuff one eats or drinks, game or no..

If the food there weren't ridiculously priced, or if there were even more options in the bleachers than hot dogs and nachos, I would feel differently. But it creates a captive audience for them.

FWIW, the last update on the yankees site is as of 4PM (nice of them to look out for their fans with frequent updates), with the game still scheduled to be played.

You know you can bring your own food in (as long as it's not alcoholic and/or in a glass or aluminum bottle/can)? The $5 bag of Cracker Jacks or peanuts inside the Stadium costs you $1 each on 161st street.

I see you escaped. I come from Long Island, and it takes me over two hours each way (as well as an expensive LIRR fare one-way), so I'm not leaving before it ends (unless it ends after 12AM and we're getting killed).
Yeah, I left my house at 4:30 and got home at 12:30 (only got to the Stadium at 6:55), and I live in the first town across the Queens/Nassau border.
