I really need to vent my displeasure with this Team right now, so bare with me

guys ... Ive been a life-long Yankee Fan, but it was in 2004 that i became borderline

obsessed and started to watch or listen to almost every game. Ever since game 4 of

that god - foresaken ALCS, This team cant get it done under pressure. whether it be

regular season, playoffs, whatever ... if theres pressure involved, we absolutely suck.

This team is un-watchable right now, and it really stinks. I dont wanna hear about

how its gonna turn around, or how we were worst off last year ... and ? Im tired of

making the playoffs and choking away. This is complete Bull**** ... Wheres the fire,

the intensity, the grit ? I was glad as hell Girardi got the Job and he hasnt shown me

a damned thing besides Farnsworth pitching somewhat better. Sometimes i feel like

im more into them doing good than they are themselves. Thats Horse**** . People

take pride and enjoy kickin our butts and we just roll over and say " yes please ! " Its

been 3 Long years of this crap already and im sick of it. when is this going to end ?

They did in the 80s. Even the Pirates didn't suck once upon a time. The Cubs have, in fact, won a World Series.

We're Yankees fans, man. Whether or not we win it all this year, it's going to be okay. Just believe.

Exactly.

13 years in a row we've made the playoffs (and it would have been 14 without the strike), and what makes this year any different?

We have a ton of talent, the Red Sox aren't playing lights out and we've gone through adversity before and come out of it with flying colors.

By August 1st, I guarantee you we will be in first place. :NY:

Don't worry we'll get better. May is not the time to panic. If we're still like this in September then you panic. Just at the last minute we always come back from a large number of losses. Which leads us to losing the playoffs. This team has to much talent to be like this all year. All they need is one hot streak and we're in.

Get off the ledge, it 5/14/08. They are 4 out and playing like crap. All they have to do is stay close till A-rod/jorge gets back.

Thing is one of these years they aren't going to be able to overcome struggles in the early half of the season or a big losing streak at some other point. There's definitely still plenty of time in the season for the Yankees to turn things around - and they might - but I don't like what I'm seeing from this team right now and I don't blame others who are concerned as well.

“We’ve got to forget about all the injuries and start playing our butts off. The bottom line is that the team is not playing the way it is capable of playing. These players are being paid a lot of money and they had better decide for themselves to earn that money.”
“This is going to get turned around. If it’s not turned around this year, then it will be turned around next year, by force if we have to.” http://yankees.lhblogs.com/

We don't have a single player batting above .250 with runners in scoring position. It is an epidemic.

True, but its not like we didnt have teams capable of winning during that stretch, including this year Id say, although this year had more question marks than any other year.

Well, look on the bright side. We've played 40 games, and we're 19-21 and only 4 behind TB (!). Last year we were 18-22 after 40 and 10 games out.

So at least we're on Wild Card pace! :)

*ducks*

(In other words, things are really bad right now, but it's not like we haven't seen reversals of fortune in the past.)

Well this team has come through in the regular season when it counts. Climbing back into the playoff picture several times after dissapointing starts. Not coming through in May is not exactly "When it counts" it is frustrating to see them struggle, but if history repeats itself this team will once again have a big second half.

The playoffs have not been fun and watching guys failing with runners in scoring position is just gut wrenching, but what can you do? Its not like we can gut the team right now. There will be some big changes in the offseason with 70M coming off the books and big time FA's available, but we'll still have a very similar team next year in the future. All you can do is hope they'll turn it around. I mean its not like we have a bunch of guys incapable of coming through in the playoffs. We won't every reproduce the same magic that the dynasty year teams could, but if you keep putting a good team out there you have to keep expecting good things to happen both in the regular season and playoffs.

Abe Frohman

I completely agree with you guys that this will turn around. what im concerned with is this teams sense of complacency that they show at times during the season and always show in the playoffs. they think the wins are going to just come to them. theres no fight, no grit. frankly, im tired of it. this team has the ability to steam-roll over the opposition. i mean crush teams like the Rays, and the Os, etc ... when are we gonna c Abreu goin to 3-2 on almost every AB ? or c Cano hittin the tar off the ball ? it goes on and on . im tired of this crap. if we had a s**t team id understand but we dont. lets get this show on the road.

For anyone saying that they've been a "lifelong fan," obsessed since 2004, or their interest in the Yanks has declined since the end of the dynasty or 2004, go be a frontrunner and root for another team. Seriously, stop taking up seats in the stadium. We don't need you as a fan and you won't be missed. Quick! Go jump on the Rays bandwagon!

i have a feeling none of these people were fans prior to 1994-1996. considering jumping ship shouldnt even be part of the equation. in my eyes, people who say those types of things arent real fans to begin with

"True" or "Real" Yankee Fans:
Whether you watch one game a year and only keep up with the team on the evening news, or you watch every game and subscribe to all the daily papers - you're a Yankee fan. If you just started watching the Yankees in 1998 or have been following them for half a century - you're a Yankee fan.

Do not question anyone's fandom or whether they are really a Yankee fan. We all choose to be fans in different ways. There is no such thing as a "true" or "real" fan. Any discussion of what kind of fan someone is can only lead to insulting or offending other users, therefore posts/threads that question someone's fandom are not allowed. It would just provide more closure if the Stadium were put to bed with a WS banner. Or at minimum an AL Pennant. I don't think a Wild Card "Ribbon of Participation" would convey the same degree of positive emotional separation from the House that Ruth Built.
Certainly being on the outside looking in is a sour prospect for long time fans.
