This is a bit like asking if the Yankees should sign me if I learned how to throw 100 MPH on the black every pitch. Of course, but it's not something that's going to happen.

Never ever never ever, no, nine, forget it, hell no.
Isn't he scheduled to start rehab starts in the minors in like late July? And TJ guys get their control back like another 6 months after that? And Pavano fulfills every injury recovery worst case scenario anyway? I don't think this is even possible

Absolutely not, and I sincerely hope Hank doesn't even think about it.

First of all, he won't come back and pitch well. Second, if he comes back at all, he wouldn't go more than 20 innings before the next season ending injury.

Hell naw....
Of course. Why would anyone here say no?
It's obvious that he's not going to come back or pitch well, but if he were to come back in August and pitch us to the playoffs and then come back on a 1 year deal, how could we resist? Asshole or not, good pitching is good pitching.
its a pipedream anyway

When looking at the Pavano situation I think this saying fits perfectly:
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." :D
So that's a no from me.

Yes. Excellent. I want Igawa to be on the next plane back to his native land. He can keep the money, and I wish him well.
And your point is exceptional: we're more likely to see Mantle rise from the grave than see a productive Pavano pitching for us. I can only imagine how he hurts himself this time back...
I would much rather keep Igawa than see "not sure of an appropriate name here" stay in the Pinstripes.

Where's the obligatory "Who's Pavano?" line? :)
Since he fired an agent for not getting him $40 million (he got 39.95 instead), if he comes back and pitches well, the best we should offer is the $5,000 his former agent robbed him of the first time around. :)

And, per the poll choices, it is worth pointing out that Batman continues to fight crime despite numerous injuries. In other words, Batman is the anti-Pavano. It would be like trading a weasel for a warrior.
The one time Batman had a near-fatal injury in 1994, he rehabbed and got back into his own monthly comic book within months. Pavano hurt his butt in March and sat out four years.
please please please let him be traded for batman please

He's a weasel in a contract year, of course he's going to pitch well if given the opportunity.
But I'd still like to ask if the OP is on illegal medications?

Yeah exactly....who the hell would trade Batman for Pavano.
I would trade Pavano for the George Clooney Batman.

I would like nothing better than for Pavano to come back, pitch to the tune of a 1.10 ERA in the playoffs and win Game 7 of the World Series.

Seriously. WTF?
But I have a question
If (a big if) He come back this season and pitches extremely well for us down the stretch. Could he become a Type A free agent?

There are at least 3 impossible statements in that questions.
it takes a post like this every now and then to remind me that such a person actually exists, and he'll make more money then I might ever will.
BULLOCKS
If it was just plain bad luck that got him to this point, I'd think about it. However, considering the huge infusion of sheer stupidity on his own behalf, no way.

Ive never believed in disliking a player because they are injury prone, its out of their control usually and we know that Pavano apparently worked extremely hard in the offseason before the 07 season to prevent such injuries from occuring. The only stupid thing he has done was hiding that car accident from the yankees.

I'm fairly certain some NL team will sign him and he'll be a tolerable 4th starter for them in 2009. He'll win 12-14 games in the NL West and further infuriate Yankee fans.

Definitely trade him. What really troubles me is that I don't understand how so many people could ignore the contributions that Batman would bring to this team.

Lohud blog a week ago or so mentioned that Rajah was not even in Tampa.
The Yanks want him as far away as possible. If that's the case where is he rehabbing? I don't think he will ever see the hill this year with the Yanks. He won't get his work in.
I'd rather they sign Jenny Finch. Seriously.
It would stink if they re-signed Carl Pavano.

He will never pitch for the Yankees again in his life..And I would honestly be surprised if he spent any significant time in any Major league uniform in the future...he hasnt pitched more than a week in the last 3 years and is coming back from a TJ...But if he ever came back to pitch vs the Yanks in Yankee Stadium....WOW he wouldnt get out of there alive

Anyone on this poll that didnt say WTF???!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or laugh is either related to Pavano or is a Red Sox fan
I actually see Pavano going on to be one of those Journeyman pitchers that floats around the league over the next 4-5 years. I doubt that he will ever pitch again for the Yankees, but I could see him having a decent season or two for some other team.

They are not his relatives . They are the people he has tied up in his basement and torturing them .
re-sign him? Absolutley.....not! He is too suceptable to injuries and i dont think any of the kings horses or any of the kings men could put that Humpty Dumpty back together again. he could fill in part time for one of the bat boys, but its possible he could break an arm doing that.
