It's early in the season, but the umpires have been more inconsistent than usual. These strike zones are impossible to interpret.

You know, a lot of people have said that Robbie will be a top hitter, and I don't deny it, but while I really feel like he will take the league by storm, I don't think he's mature enough to hit as high in the order as some think.

Anyway, let's go Phil! And throw strikes!

Funny thing is the one guy who should be rested looks off, and the rest of the team looks OK, aside from the glove gaffes..

Gotta get out of this right here and keep it 2-2

By the way, the Royals probably aren't happy that they have to play the Yanks in their home opener. The only time they get really nice crowds is when the Yanks are in town, probably when the Sox are in town, and probably on Opening Day no matter who they're playing. I'm sure they would have rather played Tampa Bay or someone this series, and then the Yanks next.

This is the day that the kids get the crap kicked out of them, apparently.

Oh Cano, why couldn't you have gotten a hit. Just a teeny-tiny single...

What is/was wrong with Hughes?

fredgmuggs
04-08-08, 04:08 PM
Probably so that I could watch it. Seriously, though, it's probably because a night game brings in a bigger crowd than a day game at this time of year.Kay was complaining there was only 41,000 paid last night. I remember when 41,000 was a Sunday Ball Day Doubleheader crowd and the Scooter gushed about it. Things have certainly changed.

don't blame cano for betemit not handling a throw at 2nd. or phil not throwing strikes (although you can blame the ump for this kind of)

SoCal Pinstriper
04-08-08, 04:09 PM
true but hughes flew in a day early and should be a little sharper than this. I'm chalking Hughes performance up to "it's justr what you get with young pitchers."

I think it is safe to say that my expectations for Phil/IPK are very low relative to most of tis board. Basicly, if Phil makes all his starts this year, I'll be pretty satisfied. I want him to stay healthy, and learn how to be a big league starter.

That kid can stop whistling any time.

I don't know if I can make this point without being considered combative and get harrassed on this board but...

if Hughes is as good as everyone around here says, shouldn't he breeze through this lineup?

Keep in mind, I'm certainly rooting for him but I guess I don't see the spark that everyone else does.

Bobay! Alright now A-Rod, you're due for another homer off Bannister.
