View Full Version : Auction Poll
This worked well in the other forum.
VOTE ONLY FOR WHICH DAYS ARE NOT GOOD FOR YOU!
We need to get 100% if we can -- I do not know how things will work with Sportsline running the auction themselves. I have not seen an option to pre-rank the auction like at FantasyAuctioneer.com
If we can't get 100%, we will have to spend the money (don't worry, it's covered) to go to FantasyAuctioneer.com like we have in the past. There we can pre-rank players and if you don't show up, you still have a team.
Remember:
VOTE ONLY FOR WHICH DAYS ARE NOT GOOD FOR YOU!
Currently, the auction is set up for March 16th, which is not good for THEBOSS84.
The season begins March 25th.
Easter Sunday would be as late a start as possible, so people can celebrate the holiday, kick out the in-laws and still have the auction.

3/15 is really the only day that isn't good for me (I voted)
Well...that settles things for this year. Unless I can find a way for people to pre-rank their auction values at Sportsline, we will have to pay for fantasyauctioneer.com for this...
keep voting, I will update if I figure things out.

I thought sportsline was using fantasyauctioneer.com as the auction draft engine?

They are...
OK...when you use their system for a draft, you click on the draft room, and it opens up. Supposedly they are doing the same thing for the auction, using fantasyauctioneer.com software.
HOWEVER...when we signed up at fantasyauctioneer.com in past years, people could login in advance and pre-rank players with dollar values, or use their default dollar value rankings. If they didn't show up for the auction, the computer would auction for them -- much like the computer picking players in a regular draft if you don't show up for a draft.
BUT...I see no option at Sportsline to pre-rank your players for auction values -- only for draft rankings.
Therefore if a player does not show up for the auction, I do not know what will happen. I am in contact with Sportsline to see what their answer is and will update this thread.
OK...I heard back from Sportsline:
Response (Ray M)
I apologize but our system doesn't support pre-rankings for our auction drafts.
So...back to fantasyauctioneer.com for us.
Too bad. I sent them a reponse to their response:
Well...that really stinks.
That should be a feature you add for next season, otherwise you really don't support auctions. It's nice to say you do, but in reality, guaranteeing that an entire league is able to show up at the same time for an auction is not feasible. After all, that's why you allow for computer drafting in your regular (serpentine) drafts.
It's a feature that FantasyAuctioneer.com has supported in the past; I see no reason why you guys don't have it.
So right now, the Auction will be Monday, March 24th.
I will look into FantasyAuctioneer.com as we have in the past.
The season begins on Tuesday, March 25th at 6:05am EDT. The auction will have to be early in the evening, so I can have time to load all the rosters into the system prior to Opening Day.

Big E and the rest of the gang - sorry if I had caused any problems with the schedule. When I signed up, I didn't have a trip to China in the works.

No problem at all. We've never had every single person show up for the auction. Working out 12 people's schedules is damn near impossible. But in the past, FantasyAuctioneer.com allowed people to pre-rank their players in case they couldn't make the auction.
Sportsline does not have this feature this year...even though they are using FantasyAuctioneer.com as their host.
So we will pay FantasyAuctioneer.com their money to get the full support. No big deal...it just would have been easier to use Sportsline because the rosters would be there automatically. It takes about an hour to load the rosters to Sportsline after the auction. I've done it every year, so this will be no different.

I'm an idiot - I voted backwards.
I would like to NOT have it on Monday if possible.
If not possible, I'll try to figure it out.

OK....so you can make it on the 14th, 15th and 23rd (Easter).
The running total is now:
Friday March 14th (1)
Saturday March 15th (3)
Sunday, March 23rd (2)
Monday, March 24th (2)
which puts March 14th in the lead.

The 14th may not be great for me - the 23rs or 24th are by far the best options for me.
I just voted. Every day works for me except Easter Sunday.
I heard from another league commissioner that according to a message they got from Sportsline:
If you are using the new Auction feature, that if an owner does not show up, that the system will make bids for him, just like the auto-draft feature in a regular (serpentine) draft.
However, since we can't pre-rank players by dollar value, I asked Sportsline how this works:
I heard from another league commissioner that if you are using the new Auction feature, that if an owner does not show up, that your system will make bids for him, just like the auto-draft feature in a regular (serpentine) draft.
My questions:
1) Since there is no way to pre-rank players by dollar value, how will the computer make bids? By AAV (Average Auction Value)? By your published pre-season Dollar values?
2) Will the computer bid on players based on position need, like in a regular draft?
Please answer in as much detail as possible. This is very urgent as we are trying to schedule our auction and are having difficulty finding a date and time workable to all 12 owners.
Thank you.
Will keep you updated! :D
So it looks like Friday, March 14th is the best day overall for people...I will schedule it for that time.
I know not everyone can make it, but the computer will draft for you, or you can have a friend login for you and do the auction in your place if you want. (I know people who have done that in other leagues in the past).

I'll be happy to draft for anyone who can't make it. :D
