View Full Version : 2008 PGA Tour
Now that Phil and Tiger are about to play in their first event it looks like we may have some golf to finally talk about. Im not a big fan of having a US Open on a course that these guys will have played earlier in the season but it will be interesting to see the scores this week and after the USGA gets ahold of it.
Here's a cool site to check out in between shots :gulp:

Very Cool site!! I think Tiger is in a league of his own though. Phil won't come close this year. Maybe as Tiger approaches 40 he might begin to falter.

I'm becoming convinced that Tiger Woods is the most perfect athlete a single sport has ever produced.

Tiger goes to Dubai...shoots 65 today and wins again.
He is just too good. Even when he isnt at his best, he finds a way to win.

I really think the Grand Slam is a possibility this year....he's that good right now.
Mick charging at the FBR just tied for the lead at the 15th and has knocked it close on the 16th.

Kinell...Tiger and Baddeley just had the best match I;ve seen for quite a few years.
Tiger ends up winning on the 20th hole and they must have combied for at least 20 birdies in the 20 holes they played.

Total domination by Tiger today....the guy is just out of this world

If Tiger doesn't win at least two majors this year, I'll be surprised. The guy is on fire.

I know this is next to impossible, but I'd love to see him take all 4 majors in one year just once! :) The man is to Golf what Ruth was to Baseball and Jordan was to Basketball.

The way he is playing right now. He looks like he'll be in contention for every tourney he plays in.
Golf isnt supposed to be dominated like this. But Tiger just keeps taking it to another level.
And even thought he wouldnt admit it. You best believe he is trying to break the consecutive wins record.
Go Tiger and the rest of the Australians!
Tiger will win the "Laureus World Sportsman of the Year" next year... book it.

Class act on and off the golf course, unlike Mickelson. Vijay Singh is also very likeable.

Out of curiosity, why don't you like Phil? He seems pretty classy to me.
I agree about VJ. He gets a bad rap. I find him very likeable.

Unfortunately a lot of people still harbor bad feelings about an "alleged" cheating incident he had years ago on the Asian tour.
I remember reading that the players don't like Phil on tour because he's annoying or something. However, his wife is stunning

Doesnt Tiger hate Phil too?? I remember there was a big controversy about that when they were paired at the Ryder Cup a few years back

From what I've heard, Mickelson isn't liked by the other golfers at all. They even have a nickname for him I believe, and not a nice one mind. ;)

They detest each other. Phil tries to act like nothing is wrong, but Tiger barely uses Phils name when talking about him.
I think Tiger feels that Phil should show him more respect. Plus it has something to do with a comment about how poor Tiger's Clubs were about 5 years back.
Phil said that Tiger played with inferior equipment because of the money he gets from Nike.
Phil is annoying. Tremendously talented, but annoying. And that fake smile...grrrrrr.

I used to really like him, but then he went and made those misogynistic remarks. And he didn't really apologize sincerely. I could never forgive him for that.
On another note, it's looking like they should just re-name the PGA Tour the Tiger Woods Tour. It's getting ridiculous. He is just mind-bogglingly incredible all the time.
When is shooting a birdie a bad idea on a golf course? When it's actually a red-shouldered hawk and you kill it by intentionally hitting it with a golf ball, which is what pro golfer Tripp Isenhour is charged with doing..
Isenhour, 39, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals and killing a migratory bird as a result of the incident, which took place Dec. 12 at Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando, Fla. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 14 months in jail and $1,500 in fines.
Isenhour was taping a video called "Shoot Like a Pro" and was interrupted by the noise of the bird, according to news reports. He eventually knocked the bird out of a tree with one of his shots.
According to court documents, Isenhour got upset when a red-shouldered hawk began making noise, forcing another take. He began hitting balls at the bird, then 300 yards away, but gave up.
Isenhour started again when the hawk moved within about 75 yards, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer Brian Baine indicated in a report.
Isenhour allegedly said "I'll get him now," and aimed for the hawk.
A few shots later, witnesses said he hit the hawk. The bird, protected as a migratory species, fell to the ground bleeding from both nostrils.
Isenhour plays on the Nationwide Tour.

Whats scary is that he didnt even play THAT well (at least by his standards)....he struggled putting the entire tournament....yet he stepped up and made quality shots when he had to. And that winning putt was just awesome.
No reason to think he wont win next week at Doral...he historically tears that course up. There is no doubt in my mind he is gonna win at least 3 majors this year, and has a definite chance at the Grand Slam.

At this point, Tiger is just not human.
This guy struggled on the green all week long. Doesn't make a put more than like 15 feet and on the 72nd hole, for all the marbles, for the whole enchilada, he sinks a 30 footer?
That's Rocky Balboa stuff!
All this in a place where he hadn't finished better than 29th in the last 4 years! (I think)

The coverage is, once again, killing me.
I would rather watch commercials than one more hushed and reverential interview with Mike Tirico (who I generally like). Then they have the nerve to tell us that there are still 20 players under par on the course. Why then, have we only see two of them strike a golf ball?
Nowhere is more expended to cover a sporting event worse.
Rant over.

Tiger and Phil are in primed position. Neither of them usually have good 1st rounds at Augusta but they did today.
The greens look like ice again. Sunday should be fun if the rain stays away.

The pairing of Faldo (one of my favorite commentators in any sport) with Nantz (who is fine with the NFL, but unbearably sappy during the Masters) is true yin and yang.

Rant over. All peasants shall genuflect when invoking the name of the Masters and Augusta National.
(the assistant at our golf course interned at Augusta National during the Masters. He said one of his duties was putting ice on the azaleas to slow down when they bloomed to coincide with the event and TV coverage. Only at Augusta National. )
