Ladies and Gentlemen!!
Rockies versus the Red Sox. World Series 07!!
Let's get more serious. Battle of the Beers!!
Samuel Adams versus Coors Poll!

Coors is just water. I hate the Red Sox, but there's no way you can say Coors is a better beer then Sam Adams.

ShaneTravis

Good lord man Coors? That is not a real beer and people in Colorado who are beer drinkers don't drink that.

Sam Adams is not only overrated it is not even the best beer brewed in MA.

Fat Tire reigns supreme. New Belgiam and Coopersmiths would blow away any head to head with Sam.

If Coors is what Colorado is coming to the table with, there is no battle.

Now this is my kind of thread. You absolutely have to go with Fat Tire from Colorado. When you're talking Boston though, there's a lot more to pick from than Sam Adams (although some of their beers are pretty good), You also have Wachusett and Harpoon. We need to get more suggestions before we decide on the Boston representative.

Colorado can't possibly have more obnoxious fans than Beantown does, so I'll drink a few Coors before seeing them idiots celebrate anything.

A beer drinker MTYankee23.

Harpoon is the only beer brewed in Boston Mass. The majority of Sam Adams product is brewed in Utica,Pittsburg,Philly and other locals (even Cali). And the reason being is it is a MASS produced beer.

Mass produced anything stinks.

Boston lager is one of the crappiest beers I have ever had. Sam Adams seasonals are amazing.

Breckinridge Avalanche is a superior beer even to Fat Tire. Colorado right now leads the country in beer production, but there's so much more out there than Bud and Coors.

There's no comparison to the dreck coming out of Massachusetts. Colorado wins by a landslide.

Great call sir. Breckenridge Amber is not very good. But their IPA and Christmas is outstanding. Flying Dog, Boulder and Wynkoop will destroy anything out of Boston.

The New Belgiam Abbey ale is the best beer to come out of that state. imo

Huh?

Sam Adams is the Boston Beer Company, so technically its based out of Boston, they even do Brewery tours, the problem is that they're such a big company now, they have regional breweries like mentioned that do most of the leg work. Its really not practical to base something like that out of the city of Boston.

You are a beer drinker is what I meant. A fellow man at arms, kin, cut from same cloth or what you will....anyway.

The company may be out of Boston, the recipe may be out Boston and the guy who owns it may own a house in Boston. But the beer is not brewed in Boston. Yes, you are right it is too large to be a local beer anymore. Hence the point that it is a mass produced beer and in no way comparable to anything coming out of Boulder or Fort Worth.

Be it beer or Lasagna cooking for an incredibly large number of people tends to water down the final dish.

Haha, ah. That's what I thought, I'm a little slow this morning.

Yeah, Definitely got too big. I only developed my beer snobbery in the past year, so I can't remember what I thought of the Denver beers when I was out there a couple years ago. Which is definitely disappointing. I don't necessarily like anything that comes out of Boston either.

My focus recently has been on Scottish Ales. I don't think Edinburgh has a team in the WS.

Sam Adams kicks the everliving $hit out of anything Coors has to offer x10. But I will be drinking Coors this week because 1. In support of Colorado, and 2.) It's cheaper.

Out of Dunbar they make a Belhaven Scottish Ale that gets all the raves.

I stick to the Pilsners and Stouts. Planning a trip to Ireland in a few months.

Writing up the last will and tidying up a few loose ends before I go.

If you expand the microbrew conversation to other New England states, I'm quite fond of the beers that Magic Hat produces. Although they've gottne pretty big, so I'm not sure if they are still a microbrew.
What about Long Trail?
And somebody makes a yummy blueberry ale.

Both of those beers are terrible. But if you put me in a bar with only the two of them I'd take a Coors. If I drink 1 Sam Adams I feel like I just ate a huge meal and need to take a nap.

"Somebody???" Way to be specific young lady.

Speaking of the Hat I have been to their brewery several times. As a happenstance I have a 12 of the Summer tour in the fridge. The Hocus Pocus, Mystery Beer and Circus boy all represented in that. Damn good beer.

And if we were to expand the boundries than yes MA would be way down the list.
Maine and New Hampshire make some of the best beer in the USA. Vermont is not too shabby either.

Okay, I google'd, it's Wachusett Blueberry Ale.

As it happens, I have a friend who works for Magic Hat, which is how we happened to serve #9 at our wedding reception--he gave us a couple kegs. Isn't that a nice wedding gift?

ShaneTravis
10-22-07, 06:51 PM
Never heard of it. I almost never have fruit in my beer. The 2 just don't mix so no wonder I have not heard of it. An occasional lambic is ok. #9 from what I remember has a touch of berry or citrus yes?

Pretty cool wedding reception present.
Check out their Single Chair or Angel. I actually think their wheat beer is their best product.

Can't find Sam Adams in WA? It's at every grocery store here in WA. I like it at Xmas time when Cosco sells a mixed case with the holiday beers mixed in for $19.99.

Fort Collins is the home of Fat Tire.

As for this thread if its Coors vs Sam Adams, then it's a blowout for Boston. Coors' spinoff beer Blue Moon is really good though. Couldn't believe it came from them.

Rock Bottom Brewery, I believe originated in Denver. As others have said CO has much more to offer than Coors.

Up here in WA, we are spoiled with beers from here and the state that has more micro breweries than anyone, Oregon.

I like Harpoon, and also Smuttynose (though that's from NH). I don't get to Boston much, but I'm sure that there are lots of great brews from there that I don't have access to (many of which have already been mentioned, I suppose).

As far as Sam Adams goes, I have been drinking a lot of the Boston Ale recently, and I really like it. Beats the Boston Lager hands down.

I read results from some beer competition out west not too long ago, and one of the winners was a beer from a micro-brewery actually located @ Coors Field. I'm sure Rockies fans would at least prefer their team be represented by that one! ;)

Regular Bud? Bud light is whatever, Budweiser IMO is the worst beer on the planet.

As much as I can't stand the Red Sox team, Boston's official beer is dope. Boston Lager as far as I'm concerned is the nectar of the gods. Octoberfest isn't that bad either.

I've read throughout this thread that people love Boston Ale. I haven't been to a place in central Florida that has it, though since I've turned 21 I've only been to a couple of places as it is. And now I'm jealous. Damn you all.

Ooh, I really like Blue Moon! They have a great spinoff in the fall called "Harvest Moon" that has a touch of pumpkin flavor in it and is just delicious.

However, as far as brewed drinks go, Hard Cider (the real stuff, not the bottled crap which is just a joke and no one should ever drink) is better than beer. I'm still kicking myself for not buying any at Apple Fest when I went to visit my sister in Ithaca (she was smart and bought some).

As far as the way cheap icky beers go (because I am cheap so this is what I usually drink), Miller >>>>> Bud & Coors combined.

We need to get more suggestions before we decide on the Boston representative.

Anything except pumpkin beer. I can p*ss better than that stuff.

Wachusett is decent, if a little sweet for my taste.

only thing good about coors is its cheapness, and the commercials

I've actually had a couple good ones, Post Road, Southern Tier, Dogfish Head Punkin' Ale, and Southampton.

Of course 3 of those are brewed in NY. None from Massachusetts.

Coors Light is also handy if you run into a pack of werewolves. It is, after all, the silver bullet. :P

I read results from some beer competition out west not too long ago, and one of the winners was a beer from a micro-brewery actually located @ Coors Field. I'm sure Rockies fans would at least prefer their team be represented by that one! ;) It is called the Sandlot, and they do brew at the ballpark. http://beerme.com/brewery.php?3709

They are a "test" facility for Coors (whatever that means). Althought they have won awards, I never found anything remarkable about the beer. It was a fun place to hang out during rain delays though.

Oh, oh, oh, glad you brought up that point.... She and I broke up earlier this year. She and my dog didn't get along because of her dog disliking attitude. I'm glad to have done a public service and my story touched you.

While it's true that there aren't too many beers brewed in Mass that can be found nationally (aside from Sam Adams), there are really some excellent microbreweries in the Boston area. The beer at John Harvard's, in Cambridge, for example, is as good if not better than what you can find in the Denver area.

Fat Tire is awesome. Coors tastes like piss. I've never been a big fan of Sam Adams, and I've tried several different brews.
