Alright guys who has gotten it already? My stupid roomate didn't want to go pick it up last night at midnight so I'm waiting to play it when I get home.

I heard it is awesome and you are Master Chief the whole time and there is a definitive ending.

Thoughts comments?

Also if you guys want we can post our gamer tags in here for XBox live. I play under my roommates name of VicMackey0916 and I will make fools of you all.

I haven't gotten Halo 3 yet, but my gamertag is TheBigBeefcake. Fear my wrath on Gears. ;)

I didn't ever get an XBox until I purchased my 360 last month... as such, I never got into Halo, so I don't plan on getting it for awhile. I could have reserved a copy, but it just wasn't that big of a deal to me. I've thoroughly enjoyed Gears of War and Rainbox Six: Vegas so far.

Halo 3 makes Gears of War look like an atrocious piece of sh!tVisually, or gameplay wise?

Here's why I like Gears... I love the system. While the cover is at times aggravating as hell (getting stuck while trying to roll, etc) the gameplay completely changes what you expect out of a multiplayer shooter. It's not just a random free-for-all. It actually incorporates a good deal of team work, and I don't have to deal with ridiculous flying through the air jumping bull that I noticed in Halo 2... that jumping just aggrovates the hell out of me in any multiplayer game.

Visually, gameplay wise, online, extras etc. It is amazing

The Halo series is overrated, and this game is no different. I've had it for about a week now, and the campaign is short (beat it in 8 hours on heroic), the graphics aren't as good as gears of war or bioshock (don't believe me? check out reviews that agree with me), and there's almost nothing new or innovative about the gameplay. Halo 3's graphics are not even comparable, really, to Gears of War.

that said, it's still a great game and I've yet to play much multiplayer. The AI is wonderful, sound and music are amazing. I still wish they added bots to the game, but of course Microsoft is trying to push xbl subscriptions on everyone, so they never add it. Forge (map editor) looks like it'll be pretty fun. I'm also glad that they have dedicated servers to run the online play, unlike Gears where the host always has a huge advantage.

edit: also, the amount of little kids and trash talk like crazy pisses me off

david cross not doing voices of random marines, like he did in halo 2 is something i also dislike

Gears of War is much better in every single way.

I can't really explain why, because I've never been a fan before, but I bought the game. It's addicting, I'll give you that Rhodey... I still do like Gears, but I can see myself getting addicted to the multiplayer... campaign, not so much.

I can't get into games if they're not sports games. I'm still having a blast playing Tiger Woods '08 and NHL '08.

i'd actually love to play right now, but xbl is giving me issues... i can't even download that mandatory update that adds "big button" support.

I waited in line outside Gamestop around 8:15pm for it. There were people going around the building in the hours after I had gotten there, though the line was pretty big when I arrived. The word I heard from many people was that almost all of the people there had theirs on reserve already paid for. The prepaid people got them first, if there were any left over then the people who just showed up to buy it would be able to get their copy. I bet there were plenty of people who left pissed off.

The only place I've seen sold out of the game so far is Gamestop. Seems to me like people ordered plenty to meet the demand. Kudos to Microsoft for making enough copies...

I have both GoW and Halo 3 and I have to say that while GoW is more realistic and requires more strategy, Halo 3 is a hell of a lot more entertaining. The weapons and vehicles are tremendous fun.

My friend who has both GoW and Halo says that the campaign mode on GoW is a lot better but that the multi-player isn't even comparable. Says there is tons more to do in Halo than in GoW.

its true that halo has many many more multiplayer modes than gow, but its basically the same game as halo 2 with altered weapons/vehicles, new maps and prettier graphics

because of this, i wouldn't say that the multiplayer isn't comparable. Gears feels more "unique" because it's something "new" compared to the same stuff that was halo 2. that said, I'd still probably choose halo's multiplayer, if only because the lack of dedicated gow servers is annoying. Although, I hadn't played halo 2 a lot in a few years, and it's obvious that those that were ridiculous(ly good) at halo 2 are still ridiculous in halo 3.

also, there's nothing like running up to an enemy and proceeding to chainsaw them... plus i love it since it pisses everyone off when you do so
