The Yankees have 7 games left and need 84 runs.

Granted, they need 12 runs per game.....but, they play baltimore and Tampa Bay, in their respective hitters parks. So there is potential for a couple of 17-18 run games in the last week.

Great, I remember last year when we had a post about 1000 runs, we ended up scoring 1-2 runs a game for over a week;)

Not this year!

I saw that last week... and when I figured they'd have to average 11 runs/game... no way... we can possibly get very close, but I don't see our bats staying THAT hot for that long... And if they do, they'll probably slump in the playoffs :( which I do not want to see.

Yes, well of course I'd rather see the Yankees hot in the playoffs, but starting now to get to 1,000 runs would be sweet. Take a look at the Yankee lineup. Imagine each one of these guys being super hot and hitting even a little bit above what they are capable. With all spots in the order clicking away, an 11-0 postseason, each game won by a huge margin is possible. Rarely does a lineup possess this type of capability - but this one does.

It's possible but the chances of it happening have to be about 1%. Not to mention, I think A-Rod, Jeter, and Cano will each get a day off before the postseason.

not with games like today, when you allow the opposing team to throw about 100 pitches through all 9 innings

1000 runs is only possible because anything is possible. it is highly unlikely though. no way they're getting to 1000.

Why should we care? Does this mean ANYTHING?

So what if they score 1,000 runs?

you start off the division series with a 1 game to none lead if you score 1000 runs.

Yeah. It is an indicator that you can survive crappy pitching.

Dumb milestones like this one doesn't matter at all. What matters is us making the playoffs, resting people who need the rest for the playoffs, getting and staying hot in the playoffs, and beating the crap out of every team we face in the playoffs/WS to win #27.

Wow, why do you have to be a dick about it? Don't post or read here if you don't care...

1,000 runs is a pretty damn good accomplishment for any team, which isn't exactly "important" but it's just as important as making the all-star team, winning the MVP, or a 20 win pitcher. Some people care about these things

Lighten up. What is important is to go into the postseason hot. Stats are truly unimportant. What is important is to win more games than your opponent in the WS
1000 is just a meaningless number. That's all the other poster tried to say

I think its actually a little scary that we could put up close to 1000 runs but couldnt score one measly run to win an extra innings game on friday. A lot of our runs come in bunches leading to blowouts. You should expect to see games more like Friday nights in the playoffs where you have to be able capitalize on every opprotunity and scratch out runs when you absolutely need them not in 15-0 games against some double A pitcher on the Devil Rays

no, it was rude to the OP and uncalled for. And he said it twice already. Not everything needs to be about the playoffs. While it might not mean anything (except bragging rights), talking about miscellaneous topics liek this isn't exactly a bad thing.

Maybe Baltimore will allow us to put up a 30 spot.

Not sure why people are getting bent out of shape, 1000 runs is a rare feat no matter how you slice it. It has no relevance to the postseason, so saying "Who cares? we should be worried about October" make zilch sense.

Who really cares?

Plenty of people do, you could start by clicking another thread instead of clicking "post" in this one.

My main objection was your calling someone "a dick". That is not necessary and totally uncalled for. You can object to someones comments but you truly went to far. We try not to let the forum go into the gutter. OK???

Andy, I believe Mr. Tifoso has already dealt with that matter and I believe I already apologized to anybody who might be offended. There's really no need to rehash the subject..

I don't see why it matters to be honest. Wouldn't we ranther they get hot in the playoffs?

I didn't see Mr Tifoso's comments, sorry. I wouldn't have rehashed it, had I seen them.
I am from the old school, I guess, and there are certain words/phrases that set me off. I see no need for them in a polite society. Anyway it's dropped.

Have a great day

Andy
