In previous meetings this year:

Ligers vs Marauders
The Marauders beat the Ligers, 274.5 - 234.0, behind 41 points from Paul Konerko. Boof Bosner (1 point) and Chris Sampson (-5 points, no longer on the Ligers) doomed John's team's chances for victory.

Jalapenos vs Lou's
The Jalapenos crushed the Lou's 301.5 - 209.0, with Brian Roberts (39 points) leading the way. The Lou's were hurt by Zach Duke (-3 points, currently on the DL), Joe Blanton (-5 points) and Fernando Rodney (0 points, currently not on team).

The Jalapenos are reeling. The injury bug bit us at the beginning and end of the year.

Nice to see some one gave us a vote of confidence. If we get out of the first round it will be a miracle.

Yah, of the teams playing this week you were the one I didn't want to face. Good luck this week - but not too much - may the team with Jeff Kent win....I mean may the best team win. ;)

I was hoping for more of a Miko/E epic battle which has about as much fanfare as a Yankee/Sox series.

The Marauders have weathered the storm and now have an even number of starts as the Ligers (5 each). Glaus possibly out for the season could turn into this year's Adam Dunn stroy for me. Argh!

How the Stubborn Jalepeno's make the playoffs is beyond me.

Pretty simple... pretty good draft, solid pitching during the middle of the season, and beating up on crap teams like Guys with Wood 320 to 216 for 13 wins.

Injuries have crippled my team and there is nothing that can be done about it except drop the last three games of the season.

With a 2-0 SP advantage today, it's possible (though unlikely) that the Ligers can beat the Marauders. Miko leads, 303-197.

With no starters left for either team, and the Lou's holding a 313.5 - 165.0 lead, the Lou's will advance to the second round and face the #1 ranked Naked Truth.

E,

I said it two weeks ago that the Lou's were the last team I wanted to play in the first round.

I wish you the best of luck and I only wish I could have been more competitive.

As for my division being weak... two teams in the playoffs and one team that led the league in weekly high score... I think that weak statement is BS cop out from a mediocre team and owner... just my two cents.

Go Yankees!

Actually, I was just looking for players to put on my "possibly keep" list as I thought John was going to beat me like I stole something last week. We have always played that your roster froze once your season was over. I actually took Volquez to make you pull out that rag of a constitution that I wouldn't even wipe my ass with. :D

miko
09-17-07, 09:01 AM
Wow. That just isn't right. I don't think Clive did anything wrong. He shouldn't have had to drop Volquez.

So now that your season is over do you think you can just dump all your high round guys and pick up potential keepers for next year? Not only would you be loading up on potential keepers hoping that one or two would pan out for you but you would also be dropping high rounders that you wouldn't even think of keeping allowing the remaining playoff teams to bolster their lineups in the middle of the playoffs. That doesn't seem right to me - makes the trade deadline a little less noteworthy. I will drop Mr. Volquez if you like.

miko
09-17-07, 09:03 AM
Good game John - I wasn't anywhere near a computer since Wednesday night and thought you were going to beat me real bad once I lost Glaus & Lowe (at the time). I was quite surprised on Sunday to see that I won. You've got a great squad there - they just didn't perform this week.

So the guy has to be on the major league DL to put him there yet you don't have to remove him when he comes off in real life? That sounds odd.

I agree with freezing teams' rosters once their season is over. You don't want someone dumping A-Rod or J. Santana, who can be picked up by playoff teams. I was just giving you a hard time because the exact player you complained about, you picked up on waivers...

No one told me becuase I did it on my own. Why would I have him on my DL when in real life he is active again? It is like extending your bench which we agreed was not what the DL was to be used for.

It's not right - you are using your DL as a placeholder - that is extending the bench - you are keeping him in your possession until next year so you can use a keeper on him when he will be fully recovered and scoring more points for you. Right now he isn't worth ................ as he is probably losing points - but the guy on your roster that is taking his spot probably is. That seems shady to me.

Even if I activate him, I could drop someone from my bench and put him on my bench. And if you want to be fair, then drop Chase Utley, Adam Eaton and Braden Looper, all of whom were active well before their teams' seasons ended.

I didn't realize that the problem was full blown as I don't watch the rosters that closely. You have to admit that it is extending your bench though - and you aren't doign anything differently than what everyone else has been doing. If we allow it this year then we should make a rule against it for next year.

I only did research on other rosters because I was called out for Duke. I have no problem making it policy for next year if the league is in favor. I can see how it is extending rosters, though IMO it's not much different from keeping a guy in the minors who was promoted IRL.

Same principle but totally different situation. Not everyone has the "misfortune" of stashing guys on the DL. Everyone starts out with 5 minor leaguers - regardless of how good or crappy they may be.

Well we all know he is just a cheater anyways. Although I am sure we are going to see a post from George sometime in the near future, I think we should add a few more rules for this time of the year. See E, you make the playoffs for one friggin' year and you have to ruin it for everyone.
