The issue I've always had with the overhead view is not how the ump is looking at the pitch in realtime. I personally would have called it a strike, but I am no Questec.

I was overreacting, I dont know the exact stats but please check those stats for the last month t I think they will be a bit different.
Also, you just cant look at stats, how many times has he fouled of a 3-1 pitch that was a ball just to make an out?
When he actually makes contact on 3-1 he can good results but he wastes way to many 3-1 counts that he could use to just get on base.

he has 14 walks on 3-1 counts.. and 52 3-2 counts.. you'd have to assume maybe 1/2 of those 3-2 counts came off of 2-2..1/2 off of 3-1 counts..
so maybe he's gone to 3-2 25 times on 3-1 counts.. you'd have to assume some are called strikes, some are foul balls, some are balls he chased.. but at most it would have happened maybe 5-7 times this year

I hate to call it selfish..because that is one thing Matsui is not. But he certainly wasnt thinking.
I wouldn't have called it selfish either but this is the 2nd time that I have seen him do that in the last couple of days, 1ST time was in the 1st inning against Cabrera.
