With how incredibly hot this team has been...

why are you guys giving up on them with 4 offensive innings to go?

Have you been watching the games this week?

I was about to say the same thing. It's 4 runs; the game is far from over.

Jim Wolfe behind the plate is a joke. He waits to see what the catcher frames and then makes the call. Igawa got screwed in the inning where he gave up 4. That pitch to German was strike 3.

I haven't given up, or I wouldn't be here. I've been upset at the ridiculous string of bad luck they've been having in this game (Jeter's hit the other way would have been a hit any other night), and the umpires seem to be doing their all to screw the Yankees over. They would have at least 2 runs already if it weren't for those umpires.

I think I speak for everone when I say.

Please let us never see you pitch another pitch for the New York Yankees, Kei Igawa, I would actually be very please if a plane ticket back to Japan was waiting for him in the locker room.

A ONE-way ticket that is.

I know everyone's going to say I'm crazy, but I kind of feel bad for Igawa. I mean, he's in a new country, has a language barrier, and needs to completely change what he's known for his entire life (pitching-wise). It's frustrating to see him do well for two or three innings and then completely collapse for one.

Time to put the hurt on bats! We need everything you've got to offer!

why would Igawa throw anywhere near the strike zone to Pena JR is buffling to me....the guys hasn't walked in 240 at-bats for a reason....he is young and anxious to hit the ball.....pitch lower than low...c'mon

It should be directed at Cashman for firing our Asian scouting service, and relying on ???? to sign him.Exactly, he might stink but its not his fault the Yankee FO decided to overpay for someone who doesn't belong near the pitching mound wearing a Yankee uniform. They panicked after Dice-K and signed someone who they knew little about except that he was Japanese and led the league in K's a few times. Not paying any mind to the fact that a lot of hitters he faced swung and missed at the same pitches MLB hitters take for balls, get into hitters counts and either walk or hit balls very, very hard. Hey, if the Yankees want to give me 5 mil/year I would take it. Blame the people who signed him, they should know better.

Your anger at Igawa is misplaced. It should be directed at Cashman for firing our Asian scouting service, and relying on ???? to sign him.

This is from the Baseline Report by Mike Pagliarulo and Adam White. (I got the link from Abraham). It's an excerpt from their analysis of Cashman.

* 12/27/06: Signed Kei Igawa to 5-yr deal F

47 IP, 2 win, 33 K, 7.14 ERA, 1.61 WIP

$26M posting fee!

Igawa could potentially be one of the worst free agent signings ever – in Mike Hampton territory. Dare we say another Carl Pavano? At least Hampton did have stretches of decent production after he left Colorado. Igawa, on the other hand, might never be better than what he is now: a AAA pitcher with an attitude who is at best a back end starter on a second division team, possible long man or innings eater out of the pen and an insurance policy for the major league club. Cashman has another 4.5 years and $45M committed to Igawa! The consultants knew about the Igawa hold-out in spring training 2005 in Japan, and how Igawa's manager slapped him for not playing during spring training after the team had won the NPB championship. Igawa then laid down that year and wasn't productive at all. Important information that is interpreted through consulting and difficult to put on scouting reports. Previous reports on Hideki Matsui, Kazuo Matsui, Iguchi, etc were handled in a different manner by the Yankees, and proved beneficial to their bottom line.http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=210231528&blogID=288057383
