So, does anyone think the Yankees will make a move over the break to get a 1Bman?No, because it wouldn't make a difference. (And because they don't want to give up anyone who might qualify as a prospect.)

Only thing they need now is for everyone to perform up to their ability, every single day they play.

Oh, the division, of course ... Aim high. ;)
seriously, i prefer to aim for that and hopefully achieve it too. it's hard to imagine jumping over 5(?) teams. i think we have 8 games against the tigers and 6 against the sox. hopefully, if we miss the mark (division champ), we take the wildcard.

again, i'm only addressing people who think/hope/can still believe we make the playoffs this year.

They were saying earlier that Hughes is probably going to be back in 2-3 weeks. I don't know if they'll go after a 1B. I'm afraid the other teams are going to be asking for our top prospects and I don't think that an upgrade at 1B at this point justifies giving up top or even near top level prospects.

Probably not too much, but I just don't think he'd be worth whatever he would cost. I don't think that Ty Wigginton is going to make the difference between this team making the playoffs and not making the playoffs. He's not a very good hitter at all for a 1B. Okay, but not good. He has some power, but he doesn't get on base much at all.

Despite what we all think, apparently Proctor likes to work. He has 3 days off coming up and I'm not sweating it.

The only thing I'm sweating when we're beating the Angels 12-0 is the fact that Jeter left the game after it looked like he might have been hurt. I'm really not sweating anything Joe does today. I'm just happy to be winning a nice, relaxing game. :)

You're probably right. Still, I'd like to see them go the extra mile and get a decent arm, even if it's a rental, to help out with what lies ahead. Money's never been an issue with this team (assuming George is still calling the shots).

Bad KT.

Soriambi
07-08-07, 03:04 PM
He is off to a very good start. He's got more HRs than Manny, Wells or Ordonez.

More HRs, yes, but:

Wigginton: .268/.316/.439/.755 (96 OPS+)
Ramirez: .285/.387/.467/.854 (123 OPS+)
Ordonez: .367/.446/.604/1.050 (177 OPS+)

Wells is having a terrible year, and he's only a little bit better than Wigginton so far, but the difference is that Ramirez, Ordonez, and Wells all have track records that indicate that they're very good players. Wigginton has a track record that indicates that he is, like I said, a guy with some power who doesn't get on base a lot at all.

I'm not saying he's the worst player in the world or anything. He has decent value, but I think that the fact that he's going to be 30 in a few months, might mean that the Yanks could get him for a few quality prospects, but not necessarily any of their A level prospects.
