If Bobby Abreu is out of his recent troubles, this is his chance to prove it.

A single here could score two runs. An extra base hit, and the possibilities are endless.

Time for a big hit. Get the confidence up.

It's only one game, but notice how good starting pitching, and getting into the Red Sox bullpen in the 6th, makes the Yankees look like the team with the 10.5 game lead and Boston like the team with "no fire."

This is the blueprint the Yankees have to keep following, with consistency, to get back where they belong.

Along these same lines, its interesting how great a very average bullpen like the Sox's can look when they are only pitching 1-2 innings a night as opposed to how bad a pretty good Yankees bullpen can look when they are pitching 4 innings a night. If the Yankees can continue to get good starting pitching and the Sox come back to earth a bit (due to inuries or whatever), you will see much more of Donnelly, Romero, Pinero, Lopez and Snyder..all very beatable.

Wang is having trouble with control here in this game. He's overcoming his problems simply because his stuff is good.

A good decision by Torre in trying to let Wang retire the first two hitters. However, it just didn't work out for Wang.

Now this sort of puts Myers into a corner as I don't think anyone was warming in the bullpen with him. This inning might be his responsibility.

Though Myers allowed a run to score, there were much worse things that could've happened.

That's why I really like Brian Bruney. He has what it takes to be a closer - at fastball that can reach up to 100 MPH, and the guts to challenge guys like Manny Ramirez.

What a great pick up for the Yankess off "the scrap heap" as Jim Kaat or Bobby Murcer said once.

So he could be a Yankee ;)

Speaking of Arizona, one thing that pisses me off to no end is when I read articles about who the Red Sox have aquired over the last 5 years that they "beat" the Yankees to get. Like Dice K and Beckett. They always throw Schilling in there. Every time I read that I want to scream at the writer "The Arizona owner was pissed at George for signing David Wells after Wells and the Arizona owner supposedly had a deal. He would've never traded Schilling to the Yankees. In fact the Red Sox gave up nothing was the Arizona owner paying back George!"

Cano has to realize just because he has a 3 ball count doesn't mean he has to swing. It's like he has it made up in his mind that he's going to swing no matter what in certain situations.

Abraham (http://yankees.lohudblogs.com/2007/05/21/game-43-red-sox-at-yankees/) had this to say about Wang's performance ...

Anyway, have you noticed the Wanger has five strikeouts in five innings? Most have come on his secondary pitches. That’s a good sign for him as he tries to make himself more versatile. It’s sort of like when Tiger Woods revamped his swing after winning his first Masters. It’s one thing to be really good. Wang (like Tiger) wants to be great.
