OK, is anyone else not completely weirded out with what Wang is throwing tonight? He's throwing 60% offspeed stuff. Lots of curves, some changes, some sliders. Hardly ever throwing his 2 seam fastball - and when he does it's usually a ball.

I wonder if he wanted to change his approach against Boston because they have hit him in the past.

well back in the minor league days wanger threw alot more sliders, it was the type of pitch that is a strikeout pitch... he seems to be using it more and more with every start... and when it's executed it's quite effective... couple that with the sinker and it can be quite the combo...

Interesting note from Abraham (http://yankees.lohudblogs.com/2007/05/21/game-43-red-sox-at-yankees/) ...

UPDATE, 7:23 P.M.: Chien-Ming Wang is 0-2 in his last two starts against the Red Sox, allowing seven runs in 11 innings. He and I talked for a while yesterday about it and he hopes that using his slider and even changeup more often will keep the Boston hitters from keying in on his sinker. David Ortiz (9 of 20) and Manny Ramirez (10 of 16) have owned him.

Okay, too adventurous there. Be nastier next time you come out, CM!

And BTW, Wang's also been saying since the injury, he's sinkers have suffered some compromisation. So he's back to working on that. Hence more 2nd or 3rd pitch this season. Hope he figures things out quickly.

Let's go Bobby!

We got a break on strike 2, and Wang finishes the job!

The 3-1 is one of those pitches pitchers throw and get a ridiculous call on, and then most usually throw it again 3-2 and act pissed when it gets called a ball.

God umpires are ridiculous.

Wang used to be a strikeout pitcher. His success in the majors has been pitcing to contact with 90% sinkers.

Now he is starting to work in his other good pitches that he basically abandoned because his sinker was so good.

Now we're starting to see him use his full complement of pitches.

My guess is that he's using these pitches that BOS hasn't seen yet. As the game moves on, I expect him to use that sinker. 3rd time around.

OK, is anyone else not completely weirded out with what Wang is throwing tonight? He's throwing 60% offspeed stuff. Lots of curves, some changes, some sliders. Hardly ever throwing his 2 seam fastball - and when he does it's usually a ball.

I wonder if he wanted to change his approach against Boston because they have hit him in the past.he has 2ks already something is very weird.
