About a foot short of being a homerun. This team can't catch a break.

Posada singles off the RF wall and it's 7-3 now. So close to a HR, but at least, if nothing else, we got a run this inning. Hopefully Mientkiewicz gets us some more.

But then why spend over $20 million just to negotiate with someone who will be no better than your fifth starter? They could have just signed someone like Trachsel or some other such scrub. Why spend over $40 million for someone who won't win more than 10-12 games?
A-Rod the only good thing about this game.
Because once Dice-K got that insane 51 million posting fee, that brought up the numbers for everyone else. Lets say if Dice was only going to post for 25-30 like most people thought before the bidding started (which at that point would have been a record), than Igawa's price would have way lower than that 20 million he ended up getting. He probably only would have gotten at the most 10 million to post and a smaller yearly salary.
It was just inflation that cause Igawa to get the money he ended up getting. And in the FA market, where Jason Marquis got paid 7 mil a year despite a near 6 ERA and not making the playoff roster, who were you going to pay that would have been reasonable? I'm not saying the Yanks should have signed him. But considering everyone else, its not like it was the worst signing in the world.
Roberts hits it to left, Cairo catches it easily, and the inning is over. Igawa in line for the win as long as the Yanks score 5+ runs this inning and don't let the O's get ahead again!
