CoyoteYankee
04-07-07, 12:39 PM
well, at least he is dancing around damage, to bad he won't make it out of the fifth.

Sadly if he pitches more than 4.1 then he will have already done better than the first 3 starters.

Brooklyn Yankee Fan

Kei gets the K.

2 Outs.

We're gonna need a lot more longmen in the pen.

Kluivert4Ever
04-07-07, 12:48 PM
The thing is that we should not be this bad of a defensive team.

Cano is an above average 2B, Dougie is an above average 1B and A-Rod despite what happened last year is an above average 3B man.
Jeter is below average.

In the outfield, Cabrera is above average, Abreu average and Matsui average.

But overall our defense should be decent, not great but slightly above average.
Thats why its so mind-boggling to see this.

sherlockjeterfan
04-07-07, 12:48 PM
well we haven't started the season out sharp, but maybe this will wake them up and they will realize that they need to work harder. I think that the pitching will get better.. it can't get worse.. can it?

For all those that are worried about this team right now, stop.

Believe me, this is the norm, of course I had hope for an onortodox good start but this team is more allergic to those than Curt Schilling is to diet coke.

We will win a 100 games when its all said and done, someway, somehow.

Got a feeling that Clemens and Hughes will be included in that someway, somehow part though.

Dr. Gonzo
04-07-07, 12:50 PM
Can someone explain the pop up that scored 3 runs for those of us unable to see the game?just bad luck, the ball fell inbetween the 2b,1b and RF along the line. Really nothing you could do,
bobby picks up the ball and guns it on one bounce to jeter to get mora who went for two. He would have been out but jeter bobbles it allowing another and third run to score.

Metroidman
04-07-07, 12:50 PM
He wasn't charged an error, but Bobby Abreu made a throw to 2nd base that would've nailed a runner (he stopped to try to run back to 1st and everything), and it would've prevented a third run from scoring (again, he stopped at 3rd), but Jeter bobbled the throw and it got away from him, the one runner scored and the one that should've been out just dove into second. The official scorer gave the guy at second a double on the play

1998 was like a once in a generation, if not a lifetime, type of season. It ain't happening like that again for a long time. At least not with the dregs this team throws out there to pitch.

Oh lookie there, good defense.

CoyoteYankee

well we haven't started the season out sharp, but maybe this will wake them up and they will realize that they need to work harder. I think that the pitching will get better.. it can't get worse.. can it?

The pitching will certainly get better. I'm not a Yankees fan, but I'd have to be wearing the rosiest of rose colored glasses to think we could expect to see this out of the Yankees rotation all year long. The cold weather probably has a bit to do with it, not to mention individual factors...

Igawa is pitching in the US for the first time, Pavano is still only looking at his second start in 18 months so he may struggle early, Pettitte has the emotion of returning to New York plus the hangover of an injury riddled 2006 to overcome, Moose may have just had a bad start... they do happen. Ask Schilling, heh.

The pitching staff in New York likely won't be at the top of the AL at the end of the year, but it'll be good enough when combined with the bullpen and the offense to win the division. You guys don't need 5 aces. You need 5 league average pitchers and I have no doubt you'll get at least that once the season gets rolling.

The funny thing is (or sad) that our entire team sucks right now but if a certain 1.200 OPS hitter comes up later in this game with the bases loaded and makes an out HE is the one that will get booed.
Ridiculous :o...
