Giambi is not as horrible as some people make him out to be....I'd feel much better with him playing first more often...with Matsui DH'ng more. This is also would get Melky into the lineup.

Pavano pitched way better than expected, and if it weren't for the errors (and bad umpiring) he would have gotten out of the second and this 4th inning almost unscathed. He may have even been able to pitch another inning the way he was going. The home run by Dukes was on a good pitch, the kid just turned on it very well.
I'm very pleased with CP's performance.

His job missing calls for Pavano and giving away outs to Kazmir was just pathetic. He's been the largest opposing factor the Yankees have faced today.

Can't disagree. That used to bother me last year. They'd get to a guy early, but let him off the hook with only a couple of runs and then the guy would settle down and work the next five innings.
They probably did about all they could off Kazmir early in this game and, to his credit, he's settled down and pitched more like the Kazmir we've seen over the past couple of years.
The good news is his pitch count is high and they'll get a chance to take some cuts against the Rays' pen. Let's just hope the Yankees' pen can keep this a two-run deficit.

all-in-all I think Pavano as the #5 pitcher is giving us about what I expected.
w/o the errors he gives us 5-6 IP and 3 ER.
What it means to me is that Igawa performing decently so that our #4 puts up better numbers than that is so important.

I can't watch either, but I agree -- Pavano's got a sinker as well, so if this isn't a fluke day, this is going to be a painful season for Worm-Killer Wang.
