I noticed the Tigers trotted out basically their full lineup. The Yanks...not so much.
The matchup is similar: Justin Verlander vs. Chase Wright

I saw a thread that Phillips had been waived. Can he be playing if that is true?

Wright finally escapes, but not before Sheffield scalds a two-out double, followed by an RBI hit by Ordonez and another single by Guillen.
Wright did have some gaudy stats at AA, anyway..

I dont think so...I just posted in that thread that I dont think he has been waived yet. Gotta suck being him and playing when he knows he's been cut.

That thread seems to suggest that he can still accept a minor league assignment if he clears waivers.

The only position he can play well is 1st base, and he can't hit, so honestly what is the point of having Andy even in the minors? From everything I have heard he seems like a nice guy and has been through a lot of crap, but he really shouldn't be on the team, I don't care where it is....

OMG that Changeup was filthy!!!, Inge had absolutely no chance with it... btw did you guys see him say "Wow" after striking out? :D
Nicely done Chase! ;).
Wow, Damon and Melky have been having brutal springs.

Chase Wright looks good.

First Steven Jackson, now Chase Wright with solid starts against major leaguers
Wright impressed me earlier in the spring - 90 mph sinking fastball, good change, and a .... slider or curve? (Something moving away from lefties)

This game shouldn't be close when you look at the lineup the Yanks put on the field and that of the Tigers. Anyway it's been an enjoyable game so far and I'm glad to see the Yanks hang in there today.

I'm glad I just happened to be flipping through the channels and stumbled upon this game. It is a rare treat here in L.A. to see the Yankees play on TV.
Wright in trouble, 2nd and 3rd, 1 out

I guess they want to stretch Wright out
A solid single by Polanco, a double by Thames...
A nice pitch to Ordonez - weak comebacker... one out
RBI single by Guillen - wasn't hit THAT hard... 2-1
Sac fly to fairly shallow center - Thompson can't throw out the pinch runner at home
3-1
Sounds like a lot of bloopers, where are the outfielders?

Wright looks like he might be getting tired out there.

McDonough hit the nail on the head - Wright battled
K's Monroe swinging on a really good change
THames' shot was no blooper - looked like Wright made a mistake in location
Wright really was impressive
Davis misses a HR by a few feet. Andy is on first with a single.
infield single for Basak, Andy scores,
1st and 3rd, 2 outs
3-2 Tigers
Bruney on to pitch. Inge's uniform gets clipped by a pitch and he takes his base.
three straight singles, 4-2 Tigers
Bruney looks awful
Why is it that Yanks pitchers stop performing once it appears that they will make the team?
2 more runs score, Bruney has only recorded one out
6-2 Tigers

Melky has not been very impressive this spring
Nettles9

Jackson Melian with a double. Seems like it was ages ago when he was one of the Yanks top prospects.

Farns on, single to lead off, grounder to third, force out at second, phillips bobbles and man is safe at first.
